IE Problems with site & profiles - We are aware of this issue 11/15/09

Many people are experiencing issues with IE right now, I am using Firefox and everything is working without a glitch on my end.

Since we are having issues we have been flooded with issue reports, please know that we are aware of the problems w/ IE and the network has been contacted.

The following is the reply that is being sent from Nyx in response to the issue reports that are coming in all throughout the day:

Members that use Internet Explorer are the only members having these problems with *all* ning sites.

Also you may want to check this link for *known* IE 8 major problems.. MicroSoft is referring IE 8 users to switch back to IE 7 with updates, due to the massive problems....

Pagan Pulse Magazine is Coming Back & They Need Your Help!

Last Month, I began the search for a person or persons who could take over Pagan Pulse Magazine (PaganSpace.net's Official Online Magazine). It was hard decision to for me but I knew with time and family obligations I could not do with it what I envisioned and I wanted someone who could give it the time and attention it needed. Thankfully, a member here answered the call.

I am very excited to announce the new owner of Pagan Pulse Magazine, he's a member of PaganSpace.net; Change Bringer. Change Bringer is an extraordinary, caring person with a drive and passion to keep Pagan Pulse Magazine alive and on its original intended course. I will continue to work with the magazine for as long as he'll have me (lol) and it will continue to be the official magazine for PaganSpace.net with my full support.

So, now onto an announcement from the New Pagan Pulse:

I would like to introduce myself. I am Change Bringer from Chicago, IL. I will be helping to bring you "your" Pagan Pulse Magazine. We would appreciate very much any ideas, input, suggestions etc. Interested in writing an article, column? Do you have an idea of something you would like to see done once or on a regular basis? By all means let us know and pass the word!

You don't have to be an expert or specialist in any genre or pagan discipline. You need not be a professional writer either. Perhaps you know someone who is, if so, send them our way. The ability to convey your story/idea/article in a well thought out manner is all that matters. That and spell check... but anything is possible! Bumping Forum Threads to the front page

From time-to-time an admin thread may get purposely bumped if its relating to important site information and even that instance is very rare.

I am noticing that certain threads are being bumped purposely just to get the thread back onto the main page. We're also receiving some complaints about this taking place, so it needs to be addressed.

In fairness, this is not something that I have addressed in the rules because it rarely happens but I will be updating the rules to reflect this information. I have however, addressed this directly on threads before but since it was not placed into the rules at that time and I don't expect that everyone noted my response in the past to thread bumpers so, I cannot hold someone accountable not for not seeing my address of the issue in the past.

What is thread bumping?

It occurs when someone keeps purposely replying to a thread w/in short intervals simply to keep it on the main page of PS. Often these replies are not addressed to anyone who has posted to the topic, they can just be pasted images or sometimes the responses can actually say "bump". In short, it's pretty obvious when someone is doing this.

I respectfully request that members do not bump threads because it is unfair to the new posters of thread discussions and even the ongoing thread topics that are generating real replies and discussions.

Many thanks and I'm not trying to be difficult but if I allow one to do this then it opens it up for all to do this and abuse this.

Twice a month we will be sending out a "From The Members Newsletter" broadcast message to all PaganSpace.net members!

The message broadcast will include your text w/ link (no images) built into categories. This is a new, affordable and exciting way for businesses and members to share their announcements/information with our 24,000 members (growing everyday!)

The Newsletters will also be archived onto the website for continual viewing by the members.

The text announcements can be up to 30 words max (punctuation is not considered a word) and contain your announcement and a text link to your information (optional). Because of space limitations we will only be accepting a max of 30 announcements per emailing. The broadcast emails will go out on the 15th and 30th of each month (28th for Feb).

The cost for the announcement is only $19 per announcement and members can reserve up to 4 broadcast announcements for future releases. Current advertisers and sponsors can reserve up to 6 future broadcasts.

Site Owners Spamming Members w/ Invites via Messaging & a few other things

Hi All,

I wish this was one of my more pleasant postings but it is not. I am quite fed up w/ site owners joining this site and then mass messaging invites to the members, via private messages, using the forums and by using the comment feature. This is prohibited and just yesterday I banned a member for this activity and I will continue to ban people who do this.

I have said this word tired, and quite honestly I'm fed up because I shouldn't even have to address this because it's common courtesy not to join a site, friend request a bunch of people and then attempt to pull members based off the hard work of others. When I created this site I never went onto anyones website and asked people to join this one; I linked to this site via my own website WitchesWay and my personal profile pages.

The members here did not join this site so they can be barraged with invites to other sites; if you want people to join your site then do some actual work and bring people to it.. The advertisers on this site pay for their exposure and it's not fair to them when people come onto here and freeload off of what others do the right way (ie: paying for their advertising). Want members? Then advertise your site like the respectable site owners do!

If you receive invites in your personal message box on this site (or in your comments) then please forward me the information, because from here on out if this takes place I will ban the person without warning. I tried to be nice about this but apparently nice is not working so well, so now I'm going to be an ass. I've never had a problem with people placing their site info onto their page or their blog but all the other things stated have and continue to be unacceptable..

Another issue, the events calendar is for actual events, I have been steadily deleting supposed event postings because they are not events. Again, this is misuse of the site and an attempt to get free exposure on the front page. So, if you have an event, which is a gathering of people on a specific date; in a location then please post it but if it's not an event then do not place it into the events announcements or it will be deleted and you may find yourself deleted as well.

Last issue, this is PaganSpace not Sexspace; I'm sure we all enjoy sex but this is not the place for that type of discussion/exchange (and no I'm not in the mood to split hairs about what constitutes sexual exchange etc., use your brain and I'm sure you can figure it out). Now, I'm not a prude by any stretch but just yesterday I deleted a group that had been formed on this site relating to nothing more than sex. The network is very strict about this type of thing and I'm not risking loosing my site so people can discuss their sexual fantasies. So, if you want to form a group or talk about your detailed sex life or fantasies then more power to you; go create a website, or find one for that type of activity and get with it but I'm not going to have that going on here! To the gods, I really can't believe I'm even having to state this...

I know none of this pertains to most of you, so I apologize for unloading this; as this is not directed at you but it is very much directed at those who are involved in these continual issues.

Hi All,

I'm heading out today to Earth Warriors Festival, I think it's going to be an amazing weekend! I now have a JVC HD Digital Camcorder so the video quality should be excellent for the video broadcasts!!

This weekend I'll be placing up the video streams on the front page of PaganSpace and I'll also update here w/ the links to the sites where they can be viewed individually via YouTube.

Kellianna will be performing and my dear friends the Dragon Ritual Drummers, among others (I'll update here w/ everything tomorrow).

Also, tomorrow PaganSpace will have an exclusive video interview with Author, Raymond Buckland, So stay tuned :) It should be an awesome weekend with some excellent broadcasts!

Profile Page Crash Update 9/17

I have reported the profile page crash to Ning and I am awaiting a response from their help team; I placed the issue in their open public help center on Get Satisfaction in hopes that will expedite the help that is currently needed.

After placing my information on Get Satisfaction, I now know that Paganspace is not the only site having these issues, so it's not isolated to only us. Also, a member gave me the heads up that if you're not logged in all the profile pages show up fine, so it's a mis-fire when logged in. Everyone's pages are still in tact, so please do not worry that you've lost all your data because it's all still there.

I'm really sorry about this everyone and I feel pretty confident this is being caused by the new applications that were installed by Ning on the network. I will keep everyone updated on any information I receive.

Profile Page Error 9/16

The current profile page errors are happening (I believe) because of a network update w/ applications that are being installed. It appears to be happening on more than just our site. I know the network is working on it, so hopefully we'll be back up and running normally very soon.

Some current Issues with Internet Explorer 8/18/09

Hi All,

I posted in a topic the other day regarding the current issues with some versions of Internet Explorer and viewing certain pages on the site. I believe the new versions of IE work fine from the feedback I've received and Firefox also has no issues with the pages. So, it seems to be isolated to older versions of IE.

If you cannot view the discussions, groups & members etc. then there's a few fixes, you can load the Firefox browser or

To access the discussions through IE browse it via By Category in the drop down list on the Discussion Tab.

The Groups can be accessed via the drop down list on the Group Tab by going to View All and then using the Sort by to go to whichever group you are searching for or click My Groups to view all of the groups you belong to.

The Members area go to the drop down on the tab for View All to see the member listings.

Until this is resolved the above is a temporary fix for the current issue with IE. I'm sorry this is going on but hopefully it will be resolved quickly.

The Future of Paganspace... An Announcement

Since PaganSpace began in October of 2007 the vision for the site has grown, just as the site has grown and flourished.

I know I haven't updated lately on the new upcoming site but I've been steadily working on it and I'm also gaining some awesome help from one of the members here who is working on integrating the forum (one that is very similar to this one) and the member database. I'll be calling him next week to discuss (I'm very behind on making that phone call, so you know who you are and I'm sorry I haven't called yet...lol)

If you are unaware of what I'm speaking of above here's the link to the announcement about the upcoming site change over. It was scheduled to change over on September 1st (I'm trying to keep that deadline but there's still some issues that are being worked on, which are causing some delays and will likely push that date back a bit).

Once, the site is ready for beta (which should be by September 1st *fingers crossed* I will be inviting the sponsors, advertisers and those who have donated to be the first to beta the site. I felt that was only fair because they have helped so much in making this site and the new site possible. I'm not rich by any stretch, and PaganSpace relies on advertisers, donors and sponsors to remain online and continue to grow, if you would like to become a sponsor or donor here's the link or if you'd like to advertise here's that link.

I have decided to leave this site up and in tact via it's sub-domain (paganspace.ning.com) as a storehouse for all our interactions both past and present. Besides, everyone here likely has a lot of content that they wouldn't ever want to loose, so I think leaving it up so it can be accessed by the public is a good idea. We have almost 2 years worth of content/interactions here and I don't think throwing it away is fair to the members nor necessary. Although, the new site will facilitate all the new content

AND...Now onto even more future plans (Yep, there's more....I know you probably wish I would just shut up already....lol)

After the beta launch of the new site, I will be opening a new extension of PaganSpace geared toward media "PaganSpace Broadcast and Media". This will facilitate the long overdue future of Pagan Pulse Magazine and also help to facilitate radio, podcasts, magazines and other media sources including the latest, exciting, new endeavor with PaganSpace.net Live Broadcasts from events.

PaganSpace will be hosting it's on video and podcast streams featuring talk and music schedules. This is something I have wanted to get involved in for a long time now and as the site has grown I think the time has come to go forward with this idea.... Besides, it will be a lot of fun, and after sitting in front of a monitor looking at code all the time, I could use some fun...lol

So, soon I will be launching a new site dedicated to the above and when that happens I'm not going to kid myself, I will be needing help with these projects. So, be prepared I'm going to need a full crew of PaganSpacer's who have background in media, writing and so forth.

It's our community let's keep it growing!!

Hey All,

I wanted to let you know that I'll be a guest at Earth Warriors Festival located at Camp Graham in Clarksville, OH Sept. 25th-27th and I'll be broadcasting live onto PaganSpace from the event for all who cannot attend.

We had some technical difficulty at Wisteria and ended up having to get a web cam to do the broadcast, but between now and the festival I will be purchasing a high res. camera so the broadcast will *hopefully* be crystal clear for everyone.

Some of the guests who will attending Earth Warriors Festival are: Dragon Ritual Drummers, Raymond Buckland; S.J. Tucker; Kellianna; Carlo Hawkwalker; Lady Willow; Leesa "Fire Woman"; Sige Jen I; and many more to come.

Sorry I wasn't online yesterday, the trip took a bit longer than I expected and we had some bad weather after I arrived but all's good and we're working on getting the live feed up and running.

Wisteria is absolutely amazing, it's truly a magical place and the people here are just wonderful!

Just a quick update. The PaganSpace.net Meet & Greet is scheduled for Saturday, August 1st from 3-4:30 p.m. at Caffenia's Cosmic Cafe & Coffee House at Wisteria.
I'll be arriving the afternoon of the 30th and leaving the morning of August 2nd.

Back on March 16th I posted an announcement regarding some very large changes with the network that hosts Paganspace, these changes in my opinion were not positive, not for the members, nor for site owners, such as myself. Here's the link to my rantish announcement, so you can get the full jest of it.

Anyway, at that time I felt as though I was backed into a corner, and basically stuck with what was a good choice of hosting PS when it began, but what has turned into what I feel is anything but a good choice. While I do very much appreciate the platform and hosting that I've been paying for, I do not appreciate feeling as though I spent a large amount of money on this site; to do nothing more than help the "hosting platform" with their agenda of taking all of the members and our information as their own; to forge them into some type of competition for Myspace or whatever. When they opened their "new" site in March, it outraged many site owners; and as we suspected it has done nothing but encourage all of us to be spammed into the next century by other creators who are trying to fill their communities off the backs of those who actually worked hard and spent money to build their sites. That may sound crappy and well, I really don't care, the truth hurts I suppose.

They backed many people into the corner, and they have literally blocked us all from getting our own content off the network. Tools were created by outside programmers to help creators extract our content via XML etc, only to have it stopped via IP blocking by the network. They closed off all API's and the access that we had > the list goes on and on > basically if we want our content we have to manually take it off and if you notice the size of this site, you'll know that's quite the undertaking well over 40,000 pages I pulled just in the discussions (ugh). To the Gods, I've seen a lot in my day but this by far takes the cake! PS is filled with glitches and bugs that go unfixed and to be honest, I'm just plain tired of it and I know many of the members are as well. Hell I can't even access my own profile page half the time without getting that stupid green error screen, it's only after about 5 or 6 attempts it finally opens and I know I'm not the only one.

Bottom Line, I don't like being backed into a corner and when I feel that way I come out fighting and this was definitely one of those occasions. So, in early April I began working on scripts; to the Gods I've bought and tested so many damn social network scripts that I could probably write a manual on them all...lol I also began months ago paying for a massive server in which I had to have in order to host this big place alongside of my other sites; Emile and Robert of Lagniappe Internet totally hooked me up with everything I asked for and more at a monthly price that I can afford and I will be eternally grateful to them for all their help and to anyone who needs hosting Lagniappe Internet is the absolute best! For you tech geeks such as myself the server PS has is a Raid 10 with 8 Drives and Mirrored Backups. It's a workhorse, I assure you...lol

Moving along...(sorry I'm winded...lol)
Anyway, I finally found a software/script that I'm comfortable with, I've been coding for months (ugh) and the choice I made, has many additional script enhancements (it's pretty easy for me to modify the code) and I've been slowly purchasing all the extra bells and whistles to give everyone, everything they're accustomed to and more. Some things will be a little bit different (very little) but I promise you, it will not be a pain for anyone and it's very, very similar, actually IMO better than what we have now and the site looks the same, so it won't be confusing! The hard part for me, was finding something that I felt was good enough for you guys (my friends who have had to listen to me can attest to my pickiness...lol), which is why I tore through so many different scripts (lost some money on some of them, oh well it happens...lol), bottom line if it couldn't do what I needed it to do, and give you guys the best stuff > then it was tossed...lol

I'm not one to ask for help, and I completely hate to ask for anything but at this point I have no other choice. I've been spending a lot of money over the past months to make this happen, while still paying all the fees to the network to keep this site running on top of it. If you guys can donate anything at all it would be so appreciated as I'm spending money at this point, that I can't afford to spend but I've been doing it anyway...lol If you can help there's a donate button in the right hand column of the site, anything will help and be very appreciated. All who donate to help PS will be shown as Donors on the new site, alongside of our wonderful current sponsors & donors.

I know that many may be worried about moving (I am backing up everything on this site everyday via html (what a pain in the arse...lol) and there will be a database of our content that I'm creating now from the html, not to mention I will leave this site up under the sub-domain for about 2-3 months after the move so everyone can transfer anything they need from their personal profiles) I sincerely apologize for this even becoming a reality, I know some may feel that I shouldn't do this or I'm letting them down but I just cannot in good conscious continue with this growing mess any longer and I fear with all the network changes that have already taken place, that I just honestly don't trust what will come next.

Just so you know some of the things you'll have there are:

Groups w/ built in forums for each group AND you can actually find what you're looking for because the groups will have categories!

Customizable profiles with a built in box for adding your playlist music code & also profile additions via html.

Member Moods for your profiles

Video gallery for your profile that's a simple as searching youtube right from your profile and clicking an add button to add the video to your profile videos.

Member Forums & Articles for discussions

Classifieds

Blogs with threaded/nested conversation style comment system (like our current forums)

A nice chat room with different rooms

A built instant messaging systems

Profile Comments and your own Guestbook

Profile Privacy w/ many choices

Events

Photo Albums

Points system for activity (I know how you guys like that...lol but I'll get creative and figure out some cool stuff for reaching points)

Private Messaging system

Games

Lots of cool widgets to add to your profiles with the click of a button from within your profile

Social Bookmarking for your profiles (I'm working on this now)

Follow Feature (So you can actually follow your friends activity if you choose to)

Twitter Facebook like status where you can change your status and people can follow and comment on your profile status changes.

And Much More as I continue to find more fun stuff and build enhancements into the code.

Tentatively, on September 1st when you type Paganspace.net it will take you to the new site (our domain name will not change), and from there you will be able to log in (I'm adding all the email data from here into the database there, so logging in w/ your current info should be a breeze) and as I already stated this site will remain on the sub-domain for several months after the site change to assure everyone can get what they need from their profiles etc. I am trying to move all the main content onto the site now (current groups etc, which I'm working on databases right now from the html content to hopefully make that happen as easily as possible so we don't have to manually re-add that info > fingers crossed that this works, otherwise I'll be in copy/paste hell for a long time...lol.)

Okay, I hope no one wants to throw a chair at me right now...lol and I'm so sorry to do this but I truly believe it's what's best for the future growth of the site.
And yes, I will be hiring a few on call tech people to help with the site, so we'll have our own tech support in case you notice any bugs or issues with the site if I'm not online or able to quickly resolve. I'll also be contacting some members in early August to help me with beta testing the new site, to make sure it's all working properly prior to the switch.

If you can't afford to donate, then that's fine, I know all too well times are tough right now but if you can help in anyway it will be so very appreciated!

I'll be at the event from Thursday-Sunday Morning, so all are welcome at anytime but there will be a special meet & greet scheduled for PaganSpace Members (day/time still tentative as we work out all the details).

PaganSpace & Wisteria will be hosting a live video broadcast direct from the event that will be aired live on the front page of PaganSpace. (Live Airing Schedule will go up soon). The show will include the Dragon Ritual Drummers Concert & Lunar Fire plus much more And a lot of fun live broadcasting from various locations at the event.

I'll be updating more on this early next week and I really look forward to meeting everyone who can come!

Comment, Inbox & Profile View Errors 6/14/09

Hi All,

Just a heads up that the site is experiencing some issues and glitches that will hopefully be resolved within the next day or so.

Comment walls seem to be disappearing > the good news is that the glitch seems to come and go and your comments are not lost. Try refreshing your page if you experience this issue. If that does not work then please know that it's a temporary issue and they do return.

Inbox not showing messages: If you open your inbox and it does not display your messages then click on the link next to your inbox that says (1 new) and you should see the messages. If you have clicked on the new messages link and they do not appear then try clicking on the inbox link. My mail has been doing this as well but when I click on the new message link it shows up.

Profile pages receiving a green screen error: This has been an ongoing issue now for months and Ning is aware of the problem but has yet resolved it. If you receive the green screen simply go back to the original page and try again. Unfortunately, there is not much I can do about this until the network resolves whatever is causing it. I have noticed that it appears to happen more often with older profiles than with newer ones.

I hope this helps a bit and my apologies for the site annoyances,they should be resolved shortly.

I wanted to let you know that this weekend I purchased VPS services for Paganspace, which is a virtual server to accommodate all the external load from Paganspace. Anyway, I'm moving everything from my former server to the new one which will likely cause some hiccups during the transition. Apologies in advance but everything should be smooth sailing by tomorrow.

I've wanted to create some great themes for everyone but I have just not had the time to sit down and do it. I know many like to create unique profiles and so I went on a hunt for a site that offers profile themes for Ning sites and I found a cool one!

The sites name is Theme Worx, I joined to check it out weeks ago and they haven't sent me any spam (yea!! lol) so, I'd like to share it with you all since it seems safe from mass message and invite annoyances that we sometimes find on Ning sites.

I think you have to become a member in order to get the theme codes etc. but as I said it's been clear sailing for me since I joined :-)

I have been trying to figure out a way to get podcast and radio information out to the members of Paganspace.net because I know there are many awesome podcasters on the site.

So, I created a group Podcasters of PaganSpace where radio and podcasters can join and submit their show information on the group, which will be featured in the group listings and also featured with an image which will show on all pages of Paganspace where members can easily click to find show schedules and information.

An announcement from Starrfire about PS Discussions

I have seen negative come in waves on here, and recently it has been at a peak but so has the amount of members. I know some wish for us to police the discussions and while we do look in on discussions and such but everyone here is adults, and with that I expect people to act as such and police their own behavior.

This place was created for "ALL" to come, I don't deny people based on their beliefs or philosophies etc. because that would be hypocritical of me to do such; if I want people to accept my beliefs, then I need to accept there's as well, doesn't mean I have to agree with them but opinions are like assholes, we all have them and none are more rosy than another :-) Simply, If I don't deny people being here, then you do not have that right either.

Next, I think people need to realize that while the arguments are annoying and to believe they will not happen occasionally is living in a dream world...lol. When it happens, we all have a choice to dive into the crap pot or leave it alone. If you dive into the mix, then you have no right to complain about the negativity. It's your choice, take the bait or instead, involve yourself in something that doesn't annoy you. I have dealt with countless issue reports of people telling on others, only to go into the issue at hand and see the reporter going back-n-forth for pages with the person they're reporting; makes it moot because if I were going to ban the person being reported I would have to ban the one reporting it as well. Make sense? Hope So...

I think mis-communication also happens "a lot", it's unfortunately, the downfall of the written word because we do not have a face and a voice to differentiate tones etc. Although, sometimes there's no mistaking the passive aggressive BS that goes on and believe me, I have also had to walk away a few times when I read crap about this site and how it is run all in the guise of being helpful *insert eye roll here*.

If people truly do not like the negative discussions there's choices A) Jump into them so they can sit on the front page for a lot longer B) Bitch about all the negative behavior or C) start a new discussion, open another thread that you enjoy. FTR, C is actually doing something to help make it better.

I created this place so people would have the freedom to talk openly, I didn't create it so I could be a babysitter or mommy to a bunch of adults. I rarely ban people from this place, as I think it's only fair to try and first work it out amicably if all possible, because everyone has bad days and "everyone" makes mistakes, myself included. I'm about the most forgiving idiot on this planet but I'm not stupid and if people believe that I don't see what goes on, or the motivations behind some of this crap then they do not know me at all. I'm not big on grandstanding and I have no need to publicly point out what transpires because all that does is perpetuate more damn drama.

The bottom line is simple, if you cannot respect this place for what it was created for or all you can do is publicly bitch about the people here and this place, then remove yourself because I am not paying for this place every month so people can abuse it, make it their personal soapbox of BS and agendas. I ask very little of people here but I do expect people to use their brain, respect the work and time that goes into this place, be respectful of others and act like adults. I'm not saying people cannot speak their peace or disagree so, before someone hits me with the lame and tired freedom of speech or censorship crap here's my take on it. If you feel any of this is hindering your freedom of speech or censoring you then take it to a place that "you pay for" and run your mouth and type till your fingers fall off and marinade in it. Or contact the president and tell him that I'm taking your rights away on a site that I pay for. Good luck with that :-)

Bottom line, If I as the owner, don't come on here, guns a blazing to judge people or feel the need to openly blither my cannon fodder on a daily basis, then you sure as hell have no place to act as though you're judge, jury and hangman in this place. Make sense? Let's really hope so.

So, let's move on, this is your community if you want to make it better then let's work towards change and not be a party to what makes it unpleasant.

From here on out, (no I'm not digging through 20k posts) if someone starts a discussion only to point out another member publicly then the discussion will be closed and deleted. If it continues to happen, I don't care who it is that does it, they will be banned. If you want to bitch about things that annoy you (without calling out names) put it into a blog because having all of this sitting on the front page everyday for the public to view is getting tiresome and old.

You all know I love ya to pieces and I'm not angry but I'm very tired of all the drama and fighting. I know we're all better than that!

Last night, new themes were added to Paganspace.net to view the new themes and the newly designed appearance area go to your settings > appearance or from your profile page just look under your profile picture and go to the Change Theme link - here's the direct link

Birthday Module Temporarily Down & New Network Updates

Hi All,

I wanted to let you know that last night the network did an update and added new badges which can now be customized to the colors you like. They also added new themes for profiles and an easier theme creation area.

With the update, now the Birthdays module is not working (ugh...lol) Although, they are aware of this issue and are working on it, so for those who have Birthdays today, I'm sorry if we missed it but hopefully they'll get it resolved before the day is over.
