What is the one big fear you have? That you would avoid at all costs? A fear is a phobia,I believe. My big fear is going to the dentist. I have avoided it for 10 years. I need to go,it is the wise thing to do. I just wont go..
Being in college, probably my biggest fear is graduating with some nice fat degree and then not being able to put it to use, for whatever reason. Perhaps that's why I am so intent on discovering that one perfect career for me and then deciding on a major. Right now I am a poli sci major, but I'm giving serious consideration is switching to a history major, perhaps with an education or poli sci minor. I would love to either work for the State Department or teach.
Failure, in general, has always been a big fear of mine.
Then there's also my fear of spiders. Everyone else I know doesn't mind spiders, but snakes make them piss themselves. I'm just the opposite. Snakes don't bother me nearly as much as spiders do. But my mom is 10x worse about spiders than I am. If I can squash it with a paper towel, I'm generally not too worried about a spider. Any bigger than that, and I flip.
I once took out one of these spiders with a paintball gun from point-blank range. Just looking at that picture makes me cringe.
By "these spiders" I mean one of those black and yellow garden spiders from down here in the South. Can't get an appropriate image of the spider to work.
Tsunamis. I'm so afraid of them, they're always in my dreams too. I also hate going on airplanes. It's obviously not the flying part, just the crashing and dying part.
I am extremely afraid of loud noises. Ever since I was a small child, I have been afraid of fireworks and balloons (the noise they make when they break). To get me over my fear, when I was little my big sister made me stay in a room while she popped ballons in front of me. I think it just made it worse.
I get up extremely early on Saturday or Sunday to go to the grocery store so I can avoid the possibility that balloons will get blown up and possibly break.
I don't watch fireworks on the 4th of July either. When I go to an amusement park, I always leave at least 2 hours before the fireworks start.
