Several times on these forums I've read about how it's so much better to make your own tools to work with, of which I whole heartily agree. And when talking about Green Witchcraft, Garden Witchcraft or Herb Magick, it's better to grow your own, again which I whole heartily agree. I've read people talking about how great a feeling it is to grow plants from seedlings and that made me wonder. Why stop at seedlings? Why not grow plants from seeds? And if you're going to do that, why not grow plants from seeds, breed your plants, and then plant those seeds before doing magickal work. So you'd have two generations of energy invested in your tools. And if you're going to do two generations, why not more? Why not 5 or 6 generations? Obviously there's a time limitation, but where do you draw the line? And why do you draw it there?

You draw it whenevr you see fit. Or maybe you draw the line when you have so many plants that you can't leave your house.;)

I am from Mo. but when I moved to Tn my s/o told me the same thing. I love all my plants and tend to talk to them a lot, as well as listen. It's amazing what they can teach. The ones given to me seem to be the friendliest, although I have a rosemary I purchased from a nursery 3yrs ago that I am most partial to.

I believe I'm going to be off soon to buy some seeds.:)

You should! Just be sure to give them love!

I'll do all I can do ensure their survival. What would you suggest as a good 'beginner' plant? I'm a bit new to this..:p

Spider plants and pathos are almost impossible to kill. If you have the right conditions, cactus are good. But they need natural light, grow lights don't work for them for whatever reason. Aloe's also good.

If you're just starting I recommend getting baby plants and not seeds, it's easier to keep them alive. I also strongly recommend a copy of Blum's Almanac, it's like the farmer's almanac but easier to read. I don't do anything to my plants unless we're in the right moon sign.

I'd like to add to the easy house plant collection the "Hoya" and the "Jade" plant...They don't mind a lil neglect in watering but can't stand in wet feet and they love a nice sunny place by the window.

"Hoya"

"Jade"

For Garden Plants I think the easiest to start off with are herbs such as Mints (come in a huge variety ie: Peppermint, Grapefruit Mint, Apple Mint, Spearmint etc.) , Thyme & Oregano...then it graduates over to a bit more care taking. Just be careful with mint it will grow everywhere if not contained somehow like in a pot.

Violas & Petunias are very easy to keep too for a beginner, as well as Marigolds.

"Violas"

"Marigold"

"Petunias"

Hi etherial, lonng time no talk.. hope everything is well with you and yours..

you are making me wish that it was spring and summer again., its getting cooler in Ny and we havent gotten to see the change in seasons but give it another week or two and you will start seeing the leaves change on the Palisades Parkway which is really stunning starting fom now into the last week or so of november.

Our plants are kind of at the winding down their harvest season, You can still pick up some vegetables at the local farmers markets and pumpkin and apple picking are great family activities this time of year.

if it is fall for anyone have a fun season and happy Mabon!

Hello Morgaine,
yes I have already harvested all of my herbs, tomatoes, green beans, strawberries and what have you and am slowly getting them ready for the colder season. I got my houseplants out of the green house to acclimate themselves back into the darker house corners and windows. the trees are starting their color changes here in Wisconsin and brrr...don't let me think any further...lol. I'm so really looking into moving out west somewhere. I can take the rain and the mediocre cool but not the frigid cold that we get here :(
It's all still in the planning stage but a move will happen, it has to happen!...lol. I will catch up with you on your page again real soon sweets.
Blessings )O(
