Scrying devices are basically used for divination and visionary work, that is to say, one uses them to see visions. A scrying device is a personal tool which should be blessed and used only by the user, and kept covered when not in use to protect it from harmful and unwanted energies.
A method I was taught for scrying is to light a single candle and turn off all other lights, and burn incense that is suitable for use in divination. Sit in a comfortable position with the spine as straight as possible and place the scrying device in front of you so that there is no reflection on the surface. Meditate and quiet your mind by whatever method works best for you, and once your mind is still, begin to look at the reflective surface. Don't let your gaze stop at the surface but look through it as if it were a window. Generally, after a while you should start to see swirling clouds, sometimes clear, sometimes indistinct, which may be any color or combination of colors. After a while, the clouds should clear and you should start to see images. This may happen right away or it may take you several sittings until this happens. Just don't give up. In time it will happen.
On a personal note, I recently bought a scrying mirror which I am currently in the process of blessing and consecrating. When it is ready, I plan to create an altar space where I can store my mirror when not in use. (Yes, I like to do these things the long and complicated way! lol)
Thanks guys

I would say use whatever type of blessing works for you. It can be something as simple as sprinkling a little salt water on the device and, focusing your intention, saying something along the lines of "I bless this scrying bowl/mirror in the name of [favorite deity or deities] to my use for the purpose of scrying." But really, there are any number of ways to go about blessing a tool for one's use, so if you find a method that works better for you, by all means go with it.
