I know this may seem like a girly topic but it's really not :-) Next year I turn 40 and I've concerned myself more heavily with my skin over the past 10 years. Although, I still need to seriously work on my eating habits.. Why can't cheeseburgers be healthy? lol

Personally, I think you're as young as you feel; most of the time I feel like a 16 year old (some may say more like a 6 yr. old...lol) but sometimes my body doesn't agree.. (BTW I hate those days...lol). Doing a back bend for instance, my mind says "let's do it" then "we do it" and then sometimes my body says "What the hell are you doing...lol" But who cares I do it anyway; my body will just have to fall into check w/ the rest of me; until I break something...lol

Seriously, for me I have found my outlook on life helps a great deal with my health, mind and hopefully my outward appearance. I smile all the time (unless I'm provoked otherwise...which isn't often....), I tend to let stress roll off of me; I don't ignore situations but if it's not worth the headache, then it doesn't get enough of my attention to ruin a perfectly good day...lol I came to the conclusion a long time ago (which is why I'm still somewhat sane...lol), that if something happens that I really can't change, there's no need to dwell on "what was", I choose to look ahead at "what can or will be". I find dwelling on negative situations and people to be a complete waste of time and energy; when that time could be spent doing something productive. (Getting off track...sorry but this does help with the mind...lol)

I believe we all have the ability to use our mind and energy to a much greater capacity than we're taught, this focusing of mind, body and energy; I believe can work on every level of our lives and in time, it's second nature to apply it.

I moved to Michigan over 2 years ago; I'm from the hot Southern regions of the US, and everyone thought I would fall ill; especially during the hard Wintry months. 2 Winters down and one coming; I haven't been sick since I moved here (Thank the Gods). Although, I've had times when I began to feel sickness was coming; each time I told myself it's a "no go" "no time for this right now" and believe it or not; it has worked :-) I also applied this focusing a few years ago when I was in a bad 4 wheeler accident; my face & body was in very bad shape. I willed the healing process and within several days it was almost unbelievable how much my face had healed etc. I believe our mind, spirit and body work together when we align them; this has helped me in so many ways from illness to aging and everything in-between. Now if I can just get past that "for the love of the Gods" feeling I get in March & April when it should be Spring Outside but instead it's still dumping snow like it's January; I'll be 100% on task...lol

Now outside of inner work, I also apply some home remedies & over the counter products to slow the aging process; not to mention I have bad habits (smoking is one) and I don't eat right either, so I need all the help I can get...lol

Detoxing the body: Green Tea is wonderful! It does so much for detoxing your body, it helps counter smoking as well and also aides in the aging process. (I drink Green Tea at least 3-4 times a week)

Egg White Facials: I learned about egg white facials from a beautiful elderly Italian woman when I was about 22. She said it was an instant face lift and after receiving a facial from her (might I add she had absolutely beautiful skin) > I have been hooked ever since :-) Just take the egg white, beat it and then apply to your face; leave it on about 10 minutes and then pat with a warm cloth, then splash your face with cool water.

Cocoa Butter & Pure Vitamin E: Good for the skin!

For a while I used Preparation H on my eyes (don't laugh...lol) because it contained fish oil; I heard years back that they ceased using fish oil, so I don't use that anymore :-)

I will admit that I use other over the counter products like mud masks (which in truth, I love) I have paid some hefty bucks for facial products but when it comes to Mud Masks, believe it or not the cheap dollar store brand (Queen Helene I think) works better than any of the pricey ones I've used.

I also use Oil of Olay products at night, they really seem to work well; not too heavy and I also think they're priced reasonable as well.

I also do not wear base/powder make-up unless I'm going somewhere that I feel it's needed (out to dinner, event etc.). I will put on eyeliner & I love Burt's Bees colored lip gloss daily but makeup (base/powder) I rarely wear.... unless I'm going for the full makeup look...lol

I have a ton of beauty products but I rarely use any of them (except listed above)..

Okay I want to hear your wonder anti-aging remedies....and sorry I went on and on.. :-)

I hope everyone is having an amazing weekend!

Hugs,
Starrfire

I will be 63 very soon and feel the same now as I did in my late twentys. I think the biggest part of the problem is a persons state of mind. If you think of yourself as old, then you will probably act old and in fact become old. Think back to when you were a little younger and remember the things that you used to like to do,( dancing, horseback riding, swimming, whatever. )and get off your ass and start doing those things again. I realize there are other factors that come into play. One is good nutritional eating habits. We all know what that consists of. If you crave junk food or enjoy eating out, limit it to once per week. You should also concider a good vitamin supliment as who knows what is in the food we eat, even when you endevor to eat healthy. I also recommend a good anti oxident. Blue berries are good, but further north some natural products are hard to find in the winter, so a supliment is recomended. I also take a vitamin D six months of the year as we get most of our D from the sun, and that is scarce in the winter.Getting the right amount of sleep is also important and this varys greatly from person to person. I only need about 5 and a half hours per night and I wake the next morning without the aid of an alarm clock. Some people may need 7 hours, some 8, and some 10. It does not matter how many hours you need. what matters is that you get what you need.Ther is nothing wrong with slowing down a bit as you age. I dont ride my horse as much as I used to but that is because I screwed up a few disc in my back a few years back when I got T boned by a car while on my motorcycle, now I hike more often and do other things to compensate In order to still get the exersize that my body still needs. When you stop taking care of yourself and slow down, thats when you will feel the years creeping up on you. Stay healthy, stay happy, and keep that body active. Blessings my good friend Terry

cold cream morning and night, water always hydrate from within most important. I use some of my own facial recipes, I have an almond/avacado scrub I like, and this will seem weird but I steam my face while covered in olive oil. That is one of my favorite things to do.

The most important thing you can do though is use the sun screen, drink lots of water and eat properly, get enough exercise, it all really does help the skin. Damn, I'm 43 and I still get carded so I guess I'm doing something right. Blessings of the Night~!

Beauty is from the inside out - lean towards alkaline foods and reduce acid foods - look on-line or go to the library and get a list of foods that are alkaline - the human body functions best in an alkaline state. Yes, your spirit and outlook on life on also key.

Get the book - 'The truth about Beauty' by Kat James - she walks you through step by step and gives info on commercial vs natural - her before and after pictures will blow you away.

I like super foods like Macro Greens, blueberries and lots of yoghurt... excercise even if just 8 mins upon waking EVERY DAY, go for a quick walk and it will raise your metabolism for the remainder of the day... and LOTS of water... try not to smoke cigarettes... vitamins.... use herbs and other natural remedies when needed... and keep my outlook up because otherwise i would crawl in to bed and never come out....

my bones are what makes me feel OLD. i have bad knees and joints, and a seperated rib that flairs... so I have to keep my abbs and legs in shape or it is just pain, which will age one as well...

lastly positive mental attitude, will help so much the more you think bad thoughts or negative even about some cellulite it is erroding your self.
