This is a discussion to see how many Pagans and Wiccans actually know the Theban Alphabet. I know that there is a lot of other alphabets out their used for magickal purposes, but the Theban Alphabet is the rooted alphabet from the begining. Do you know the Theban Alphabet?

First of all, why do so many people write "Pagans and Wiccans" as if they are two separate things? Like is a Wiccan not a Pagan?

That's my first gripe *lol*

Wiccans are Pagan. But not all Pagans are Wiccans. Wicca is a branch of Paganism. Thus I was taught.

Wiccans are Pagans indeed. Pagan is the top of the umbrella and Wiccans are one of the supports holding it open. You were taught right.

Hang on, if Wiccans are Pagan. But not all Pagans are Wiccans. Wicca is a branch of Paganism then why not just say "Pagans" (if Wiccans are Pagans).

A lot of people here write "Pagans and Wiccans" which I find strange *lol*

Pagans call themselves Pagans, and not all Wiccans call themselves Wiccans

Eh?

That is right. I do not understand it either. That is a lot of the people that I have come in contact with. that would be like Christians and Baptists. Baptists are a branch off Christianity, but they do not refer to themselves as Christians, they refer to themselves as Baptists. It is rather confusing, but unfortunately that is the way they decude to label themselves.

I don't know any Baptists but I would find it really *ODD* that they don't consider themselves Christians (or call themselves that) if their theology is all about Christ.

Strange...

I have met plenty in my life. My grandmother is one of those people. It is strange, but like I said, that is how people want to refer to themselves.

You have asked your grandmother if she's a Christian and she said no, I am a Baptist? What is being a Baptist then if it isn't a denomination of Christianity? I am really confused. Does your grandmother not see Christ as her central to her beliefs?

Reply to This

no. I am not saying them as to seperate indiciduals. I say it like that because not all Pagans call themselves Pagans, and not all Wiccans call themselves Wiccans. that is why i wrote it that way.

To any who care to read this ones belief in the Differance of a Pagan and of Wiccan !

My Grandparents came from Ireland along with my Great Grandma.
This is the way it was explained to me,
1st Pagan is a given Christen Name to Any who choosed to worship more than 1 God
Same as the Name "Heathen" given to Indians
2nd Wiccan is also a given Christen Name, Just a little mixed up tho! Yet this is where the differance comes in to play. The way to relate to this is the same as a Holy gathering. In Olden Times, All cultures, Clear back to the caveman. Would have Gatherings! (The time of the year would depend on the country and Weather where the people lived) Ok back to the telling, Well then All the different Clans would come together to either Trade their wares or to Show off Their skills and Yes to Exchange for Husbands and Wifes, so on and exct "Now" Back in time in a certain language, A "Wica" was a Title for a Male and A "Wicee" was a Title for a Women.
Both Healers or Herbalist "as you will" and when Their Group got togeather it was then Called a Wiccan! Now the way I was told is that The Words were of the
Welsh language. And as we All know, In that period of time, Everyone was traveling everywhere, Shareing, Trading, Takeing and we know the rest. But Some would endup staying in a different land either by chioce or Not, and All were trying to either teach or learn a new language. Now this is where alot of New words were starting to come from for 1 word in a certian language could mean more then 1 in another. So as
to hear it from my GreatGrandma This is also where the word "Druid" came from. For They were the 1st known Healers in Ireland, and Later became known as the Rhizotomists. Anyways to make a short story long! Lol I will close for now.
As Always; Brighest Blessings to You and Yours:

Are you saying that "Wica", "Wicee" and "Wiccan" are from the Welsh language originally, Raeven?

Reply to This

Yes, that is what I am saying, Though the spelling of the words in this day and age may not be exactly the way they were spelled in the days of time, You know how tanslations can be.
