Okay-

Dorothy is in Denver at INATS... Utterly Wicked, as well as a children's book written by one of our fellow WillowTree Press authors (Velvet Rieth's "My First Little Workbook of Wicca) are both finalists in the 11th Annual Cover Awards...

Morrison should be calling me as soon as the awards ceremony is over and we know for a fact that she won (because we all KNOW she's going to WIN, RIGHT?!)

The banquet and such isn't until later tonight, so I will post something as soon as I hear it!

We have a winner!!!!

I just got off the phone with the Morrison....

Utterly Wicked tied for First Place in it's category, meaning, YES, Dorothy won!!!!!

My First Little Workbook of Wicca by Velvet Rieth placed as a finalist, but didn't win... :(

So, Morrison is out in Denver partying it up and basking in the well deserved glory... Congrats D!!!

Did we have doubts? That's fantastic news, congrats Dorothy!

Sellars, a finalist is still something to celebrate :-)

I suspect everyone will be hearing from Morrison either later tonight or sometime tomorrow. Last she told me, her flight from Denver was a redeye leaving at midnight with a layover in NJ... In theory she was supposed to arrive at her doorstep around 9:30 this morning.... (provided she didn't have any flight glitches - which she DID have on the way out to Denver [she got stuck here in St. Louis and I was hung up dealing with the rental hell so I couldn't even go out to the airport to hang with her])

Anywho, that is the most up to date info I have. I haven't heard from her since Saturday night so I suspect she snoozing a bit...

Thanks, Lady Raven!

I think what tickles me the most is having proof in hand that the community has finally grown up, and sees the value of the shadow side. ;)

Hugs!

Thanks soooo much, Folks! It wouldn't have happened without each and everyone of you - and I'm truly grateful! ;)

Have to tell you all that it was an absolutely AMAZING show and awards banquet. Some fences that needed mending mended themselves without any effort on my part, none of the folks that would've caused a problem for me even bothered to show up, I was able to do lots of networking, and it was all managed with less than six hours of sleep over the weekend. I also got to hang out with Joyce and Laurie of Sisters of the Earth & Sea, Jacki Smith of Coventry Creations, Dianne and Tanner of Spark of Spirit, and authoress, Patricia Shaw, among other cool folks. [Damn...your magic ROCKS!! LOL!] And had Sellars and Sabrina - both of whom had initially planned to go - been there, the weekend would've been complete!

I have to tell you, though, that the awards presentation, itself, was especially touching for me. Not only were there lots of whoops and hollers when Utterly Wicked was announced as a winner, the award was presented by my good friend, Dianne, of Spark of Spirit. Seems that she knew I was going to win and because of that, asked specifically to present the book awards. To receive the award from her made it all the more special. ;)

On another note...my very short acceptance speech [yeah...I was absolutely speechless - and for me, that means that I'm not planning to talk very long! LOL!] consisted mostly of praising WillowTree Press for taking a chance on the book and its subject matter, and being ballsy enough to venture into territory that no other publisher would dare to explore. And after, one of my former publisher's acquistions people strode directly over to a mutual acquaintance, admitted to being confused about my remarks, and demanded to know if they'd been designed to diss her employer. The response was that she didn't think so, but if that particular publisher treated their authors better, there'd have been no reason for her confusion at all. I'd have loved to have been a fly on the wall to hear that one! ROTFL!!

And just so ya'll know...you were definitely at the after-awards party. You must've been, as we went through more bottles of champagne than I could count - I lost count after the fourth bottle - and I know we couldn't have gone through that much all by ourselves! Chuckle!

It was a wonderful night - one I'll never forget - and I'm eternally grateful to all of you for the parts you played in making it happen! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

Huge hugs, many thanks, and much love!

Well...writing a book is one thing. But having folks who encourage you and cheer you on, and love the book - and you - enough not only to sell it, but to actually work magic to help you get something you want is quite another. So...

I love you all bunches, and just can't imagine my life without each and every one of you in it. ;)

It's because you are a genuine human being Dorothy, if you weren't you wouldn't have such a fan-base :-)

Oh, C'Rose...that's sooo sweet, and I can't thank you enough! It's folks like you who make it all worth while, and keep me going when I don't think I can. ;)

Can't wait to meet you and yours in October!

Hugs!
