Ah but if we are going to have wrinkled and saggy skin it may as well be colourful. I got my first Tat when I was 50. I now have 3. If the tat is a fond memory its nice to have when you get old, cause one could forget things, cause a picture is worth a thousand memories.

The price depends on the size of the Tattoo The pain probably depends on where you get it. My first was on my shoulder, it feels like when someone slaps you when you are sunbured. I am totally terrified of needles, but I managed to get 3 tats.

I think that everyone has already said it, but I would say that in most cases with tattoos; is that you get what you pay for, and even then sometimes it is dicey... I would rather pay more at a place that I know the work and the cleanliness of the parlor then try to save a few bucks.

On the thought of the pain, to me that is a non-factor (Once it starts, am I going to get up and leave ?), I found it more irritating then anything else, but that is me.

As mentioned they can get pricey. But a good artist that does good work is going to cost more than one that does work that looks like you got it in prision. As for the pain, well thats just letting you know that you are still alive. No pain, no gain.

Tattoos can be very pricey it all depends on where you go and how big and how much color is in them.. Hurting wise it is all going to be on your taolerience for pain. If you can handle pain then it will be a breeze. I have two right now one on the back of my neck and one on my ankle and the one on my neck I didn't feel it at all. However, the one on my ankle was a little bitter. It had its moments of hurtting. Your best bet is to always do research on different tattoo places get references from them. And know what and where you want a tattoo. Don't get something that is just for fun because you could always wind up regretting it and it hurts worse getting them removed. So before getting it make sure that the tattoo you want is something you want to live with forever or even has some kinda of meaning to you personally. That is the best way to go.. All the tattoos I want has meaning to me in my life. Just remember it is all about mind over matter.. I hope I helped you. Blessed Be

Hi "U", wazzzz up!
I got my 1st. tattoo about 25yrs. ago. A purple Rose (In rememberence of my Mom, she liked putting a purple/black rose amounst the rest) Back then, yup it hurt! They used larger needles... The outline was done using a #6 needle. Ouch! lol. Today it's much different and not as painful as to say!

This is what to expect to feel if you decide to get a tattoo. (take some alcohol sterolize the area you want the tattoo. Sterolize a sewing needle, then drag it along the area. If you continue doing it in the same area over and over again. That area will start to feel abit numb after say 5 mins. of dragging the needle across it.) There ya go! The 1st. 5 -10 mins. it kinda stings but after awhile, while your complection goes white a sign saying your system is experiencing a type of shock. Lol, lol the stinging will subside and you'll be used to the feeling. You don't have to be a tough guy to get a tattoo! My best friend "who's A biker" fainted in the chair, lol. I'd suggest you have a pop (soda) or a coffee 10 mins. before you sit. My daughter has 3 "hidden" tattoo's and all 3 times she used numbing cream. As did my ex-wife. Lol, once you give the artist the go ahead and he starts. If you change your mind, it's too late. You'll have a ink mark where ever he started (not good) Get the numbing cream and finish it! Sooo, before you decide to get a tattoo. Pick out something you won't regret when your older > (Granny) as it does not wash off. It's your peace of art work until "that day" ya die. I have 1 rose-left upper arm, 1 Angel with banner on my hip, 1 Reaper on my right forearm and 1 Reaper on my upper right arm... I DON'T regret not 1 of them. Why the Reaper? I just liked it. I'm not evil, nor do I worship the devil or death! I'm a Christian / Pagan... When someone questions me on my Reaper tattoo's or my Email address's, site/page names, on-line card playing name. I ask them this: Have you ever met or seen the Grim Reaper? Have you ever seen Santa Clause, the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy? Hummmm, they agree the name the Grim Reaper is a mythe, something / someone to fear! BUT no-one has ever seen him, lol.
I mentioned this because if you do get a tattoo and it is in a reveling place for someone to see it, you WILL be questioned about it! Whyyyyyyy? Sooo, it is a big decision to make. My advice anyone, is to do what my daughter did. Draw it on yourself with a "lead" free or "medical" marker (NOT A "BIC" PEN) and wear it like you would a real tattoo! If after a month you still like it and have NOT wished to wash it off! Goooooo get your tattoo!!!! Bring lots of $money$ remember it is ARTWORK > YOURS....

Grimmm, "don't fear da Reaper" keep safe! & Smile..............

yes it is pricey.. I would say it is also something you should shop. I have used the same tat artist for years now..I draw my designs, he inks them.. as for pain..ok..maybe i am a sicko but i love the way it feels, especially when he hits it with alcohol..people have told me that it is just weird that i don't think it hurts.in fact, have been known to get goosebumps from it

1. The price depense on the sice and design (I personally got a discount because the tatoo artist really wanted to do the projekt).

2. Well naturally it hurts, but it's not the same as if you fall or somthing. It's a constructive pain because you know that you are getting somthing out of it, somthing that you want and have payed for. And it helps a lot if you can actually see the artist as he/she is working on you. Very placeboeffect, but it works, because you can see that it actually turns out great. And the pain also depens on that bodypart you want attooed. I had my whole back done, and it was soooo worth it, but also the most painfull experience of my life. I have allso had both upper arms done, and that was a blast. Yes it hurt, but no way near the same as the back. Compared to the back, the upper arms was actually fun.

I got a tattoo two weeks ago of a rose on my arm, I am going again to get two more roses, today. It took me almost twenty years to get the first rose. I have a small ankh under my right clavical, and it hurt like hell. The memory of that experience would not allow me to get another. The world turned wonky and I almost fainted, and it is so tiny. Well when I got my rose, on my arm, I was incredibly surprised. It was uncomfortable but not as uncomfortable as sitting in the same position for a while. If you practice magick or meditation, then you know how to ground and center. That is all I did the entire time, ground and center.

So to answer your questions;
-My tattoo was inexpensive because he is a new artist, talented but no real portfolio to show. I took a risk, based on the work he was doing before me. The tattoo is perfect, except for a tiny scar that developed under the tattoo in a spot that was overworked. It is very difficult to notice, very small, and does not mar the work done whatsoever (it is just a bit shinier on that spot).

-It is painful but I believe the discomfort is relative to the location that the tattoo is being placed on your body. Your ability to maintain focus, and to not tense up. When you tense up you exert energy, which can weaken your resolve and or tolerance. I truly believe it was more uncomfortable to remain in one spot than to experience the tattoo application.

Okay - after getting the much larger set of roses......yes, tattoos do hurt. I had to stop twenty minutes into it and get a kool-aid drink because I felt like my blood sugar levels were going wonky. I think my body was reacting to blood loss or something. It could have been an emotional reaction as well. Right before the tattoo I was describing the reaction I had to my first tattoo, ie. dizzy, almost fainted. So it is possible I psyched myself out. When we restarted the tattoo I sat in a Lotus Zen pose and began to meditate in earnest. That really, really, helped.
