I have been a sky-gazer for a long time (well mortally speaking) and Was wondering if anyone else was watching the interesting event leading up to the conjuction of Juipiter-Venus on Nov.30,2008 along with the the rise of the young moon. (it is a spectacular view of the show from the desert here) I thought it would be nice to see what the show is like from different global perspectives, and what better place to ask than here? At my present location (Baghdad,Iraq) is has been a really great show to watch them getting closer to the converge each night. I am posting a link at the bottom of a very informative website that tracks them daily at the bottom of the thread. (in particuliar the night of the conjunction) Hope all are enjoying the show to thoes who can view it ...cant wait to hear the replies of the interested ones! Bright Blessings!

In the twilight, between the light and dark....I see the two stellar bodies shining brightly way off in the distance.
Next to them is a sliver of silver, like a bowl caught on it's side as if it it threw out or is catching the little balls of light.

I have a picture of this that I took tonight, it is on my blog here, check it out! Gorgeous...we could not see it last night as we had cloud cover and lots of rain here in this part of Florida...it was nice and clear tonight. I wish I had a tripod, though, and a slow shutter and lens...this pic would have been much better...

Saturday night I was driving in the evening. The sky was perfectly clear of clouds, with all of the colors fading upwards from the red sunset, and the only celestial bodies were the two planets shining close together, and the tiny sliver of the new moon. It was extraordinarily beautiful.

Ha! My magic worked again! I went out a few minutes ago and all I could see was a fuzzy light that might have been the moon, but in five minutes all was clear and there they were in all their blazing glory!

Tonight is the first clear night we've had in the high country (snow!!!!!) and Wow it is just beautiful. All you can see is the Cresent Moon and the two Planets.

I'd be looking with my new telescope, but sadly it's cloudy out tonight, so no luck... and I got it all set up too just for this, but I knew it wasn't going to be clear so eh, it sucks but maybe next time.

We just came back from a hunting trip where the sky was so clear you could see a million stars and the swipe of the Milky Way across the sky, within 5 minutes of arriving we witnessed several shooting stars. I did notice the stars were closer together and even more beautiful
