As humans we are diverse in apearance, belief, and lifestyle, but the one common thing we share is we all feel the same emotions.
In literature and art there are things we all find beauty in. It could be a picture , a poem or a song. When this happens its said to have struck a universal nerve. Its something we can all relate to and laugh or cry together.
As a way to better understand one another I would like people to share the lyrics to a song they feel expresses a part of themself. Please try to keep it nice if at all possible.
I close my eyes
Only for a moment and the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Now don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the Earth and Sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
The valley green was so serene
In the middle ran a stream so blue...
A maiden fair, in despair, once had met her true love there and she told him...
She would say...
"Promise me , when you see, a white rose you'll think of me
I love you so,
Never let go,
I will be your ghost of a rose..."
Her eyes believed in mysteries
She would lay amongst the leaves of amber
Her spirit wild, heart of a child, yet gentle still and quiet and mild and he loved her...
When she would say...
"Promise me , when you see, a white rose you'll think of me
I love you so,
Never let go,
I will be your ghost of a rose..."
When all was done, she turned to run
Dancing to the setting sun as he watched her
And ever more he thought he saw
A glimpse of her upon the moors forever
He'd hear her say...
"Promise me , when you see, a white rose you'll think of me
I love you so,
Never let go,
I will be your ghost of a rose..."
Just the first and last verses here, but I love the entire song.
THE HIGHWAYMAN
I was a highwayman. Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive.
I fly a starship across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again..
The song that best descirbes how I am inside is: "Host of Seraphim" off of the album "The Serpents Egg" by Dead Can Dance. Also featured on the soundtack to the visual movie Barakka. It basically deals with the nobilitly of humanity in the face of trajedy. Everytime I hear the song it vibrates thoughout my soul. The sound and mood is me inside. There are no real lyrics...just Lisa Gerrard at her finest.
Yea, I do like that song. A lot of her work has no lyrics. I like to call it the sound of emotion. I dont think words can express the same feeling she can with just her voice.
