All Beliefs are Welcome Here!

I see many folks on here and other groups in their profile and wordings, calling themselves Shamans.....so I'm wondering,if those of you who this is your way, path, choice, ect could tell us a bit more about EXACTLY how you define what a shaman is? My experience is working with Native American shamans on several occasions and they had both been in their "craft" many years and well seasoned. I also have a dear pal in Ireland that follows Shaman ways, again, older, many years doing what he does.....  I see many young, new folks using the term shaman, why I'm asking......Any input? Mayhaps my definition is just different or their is new understandings of the term.

This is going to get interesting. I give you technoshammanism.

What is technoshamanism?

Thanks for the lincs

Here's a variety of links to shamanic organizations.

break on through to the other side......whatever you want it to be

What a nice sentiment, I agree absolutely. the great thing about metaphysics, spiritualism, religion, atheism and the rest is that such philosophies  and more are completely within our control to mold and discard as we see fit. I personally was into shamanism for a space in my life. it was a wonderful, interesting time filled with discovery and power.

Youre not anymore, then, though? I have a hard time seeing shamanism as something one does for a time then doesn't. I define it more as an inner way of ones being, that is simply part of who one is. Though I do agree we change, mold, groiw, adjust always.....

No not anymore though that doesn't diminish it's import to me, I'm on the last leg of my journey and sometimes life isn't about power and beauty it's about something else.  Suffice it to say it was there when i needed it and i'm grateful to have had the experience.

I don't necessarily equate shamanism to beauty or power.....how do you simply stop being a shaman? That concept is foreign to me,as I see it as intregal within who we are, just curious? I don't see shamanism  the same as switching paths, which indeed many do,which is a choice and important at times .Thanks for your input
