I have recently started studying ceremonial magick, and everyone I talk to about it has told me it's dangerous, and that even Angels could possibly try to possess you or worse. Doesn't make any sense to me, so are these beings dangerous or are people just superstitious?
People are always cautious of Ceremonial Magic, Puck. Don't listen to them; just get on with it and take the good and the bad as constructive learning measures. I've heard some people get majorly fucked up by it but I believe these individuals have psycho-issues to begin with. Keep going through thick and thin, even when you see signs or disturbance and you will be rewarded.
Excellent point Pavlor! I've read a great deal about Ceremonial Magick, but have never practiced due to the rumors and stories of what could happen. Perhaps that's my psycho-issue. I guess you just gotta go with what makes you comfortable. If you're afraid an angel will harm you, chances are it probably will. LOL CHEERS!
Because angels don't always have your best interests in their minds. Nor are they bound to be slaves to humans, they think of themselves higher than people.
Keep in mind that ceremonial magic is not my personal cuppa.
That said, as a person who deals with entities of all kinds on a fairly regular basis, keep in mind that everything you come across has an Agenda. That Agenda might, or might not involve you, and in any event there's no reason any being is required to share, or tell the truth about, its Agenda. Just know that it *has* one, and that if it is allowing interaction, then that interaction somehow serves the Agenda.
I mean - you've got an Agenda, too. Nothing to say that's bad - maybe you're just trying to develop your skills. That's a perfectly reasonable Agenda to have, no harm, no foul, right? Same with every entity out there - the Agenda of a cedar tree is most likely something as simple as "Exist."
But let's examine that simple Agenda. In order to exist, a cedar tree has to have soil, water, sunlight, and nutrients. It has to put its roots into the ground deeply enough to support its own weight *and* the weight of anything on it (snow, ice, etc). It has to have branches and a trunk that are flexible enough to bend with winds that might achieve hurricane force. In order for it to get enough sunlight, it has to outgrow, or overgrow, or grow around, all the other plants around it.
There's nothing at all harmful about any of that, really - *except* that a tree's roots can break through rocks, cement, metal pipes, and the foundation of your house. The tree's growth often means that smaller, less thriving plants will suffocate under its shade, wither from lack of sun, and die. Cedar trees in particular exude a fragrant sap that destroys insects - which ensures the tree's survival at the expense of other living things.
See what I'm saying, there?
So even if an entity has completely neutral or benign intent, it can do harm. Thus it's worth taking the time and approaching with caution.
If such a thing as an Angel does exist they're a race of warriors not little girls with wings, the Seraphim and Cherubim are Gods most trusted servants and make up the heavenly host, a vast army which protects heaven from the depredations of the hordes of evil. They're nothing like the romanticised modern day version of an angel. I'd imagine an Angel would regard any human as little more than a child, imagine if you were out shopping and suddenly you were forced to drop everything because some random three year old wanted more chocolate milk. I guess that’s how an Angel would feel if you summoned such a being into your home etc. Not saying I definitely believe Angels exist, but I'd never attempt a summoning of one just in case. Look how it all ended for Dr Dee.
Although Angels are on a different plane that humans the are in many way subordinate to the "Holy" work of the righteous. I always have the freedom to ask for guidance and aid to the degree that the greater spirit of the Divine is revealed in my request for wisdom guidance or action.
Spirit guides are not much impressed by ego
Angels respect and admire the righteous and the true seeker after trtuh and Wisdom but mostly ignore all the rest
Archangels are no respecters of personality, acting according to the nature of the Truth that is intended
Angelic beings don't harm, they test....as a long time ceremonial arts student and practicing occult magiester,
they serve the will of the higher divide, meaning the role that one wishes to take in their summoning, they can only be dangerous if you are dangerous to yourself....as in not aware of the personal torment you could afford yourself, as pav put it the psycho-linking........(travel through madness)
