Blessed Yule!

Hi all,

I just wanted to wish everyone a Blessed Yule!

I am currently staying up to welcome in the new sun. It is just after 3am. I am already "burning" my Yule log, I've got some seasonal music on, and I'm about to bake some Gingerbread Cookies.

Is anyone else staying up right now? Would anyone care to share what they have, are, or will be doing to celebrate the Solstice?

Just real quick I'll explain the way in which I "burn" my yule log. I do not have a fire place. I live in an apartment. So I can't burn anything but candles and incense. You'll see a picture (i just took a few minutes ago) of my log, which has some short starts of branches. I balance three votive candles on this log, and burn them as a symbolic means of burning the log.

This year I've also got five taper candles going, two red, two green, and one white. I put them in the shape of a equal armed cross, with the white candle at the center, the two green to the right and left, and two red to the top and bottom. I lit the bottom red one first and it is almost burned out now. I am burning it to the south, to represent the dying sun and it's low, southern position in the sky of late. About 15 minutes ago I lit the two green. This is to represent the east and west. Where the sun rises and sets, and to draw the sun up higher in the sky. In a couple more hours these will have been nearly spent and I will light the upper red candle to symbolize the rebirth of the sun and it's new direction towards the north. Through all of this i am burning the white candle in honor of the goddess and her act of birthing the sun at this time.

Now someone else go, before you all get sick of reading about my night.

another beautiful scene ^^ snow really can make a landscape look more magical.

i also have snow clouds blocking my view at the moment, but no flakes, which is strange because they were quit sure we would have some new snow fall tonight, but whichever *shrug* we already have about 30 inches so i'm fine if we don't get anymore :P

oh i'm so jealous!

you're pretty good at descriptive writing, you know that? do you write?

you know what i just realized, i haven't been able to fall asleep the past two (this makes three) nights until after the dawn, and i was listening to this yule song that just reminded me that the solstice (or standing still of the sun) occurs for not one but three days, and it is on yule that this patter breaks. who knew, i've been secretly keeping watch for the sun this whole time lol

YAY I can see the sun lighting the snow outside now!

Thankyou.....I hope this day brings hapiness and light to your path. May day is now drawing in , but what a beautiful day.......I spent sometime in my Birch grove by a crystal stream and it was beautiful. So much happiness in the Wild wood today ................ My path ahead is straight and illuminated :)
