I have recently come to a personal understanding. It may not be true for others but is for me. So, when approaching the occult, most people think of the many dark beings that lurk in the shadows on the very edge of our mysteries and such. Many also see the many light beings that stand at the side of those who call on them. But is there true evil lurking? This has been the number one warning people have given me and I'm sure others when one becomes interested in the occult. But through study and soul searching I have come to an understanding. The human psyche is made up of many emotions, thoughts, memories etc. Many things that go on in our own minds at times we don't fully understand or are frightened of, as if a child afraid of his Shadow. These fears in my opinion were manifest throughout history by us. Humans. They became conscious thought forms that we eventually labeled with names. There are also many beautiful aspects to our psyche that we manifested and gave names to. These beings of dark and light are just that, thought forms. They are simply the way that we connect with and understand our own darkness and our own light. They exist within us and are us, just as we gave the universal creative energy many names. No one is more good or evil than the next, rather is necessary. The darkness is not evil but can be productive and creative if all those emotions are channeled in a productive manner.
I explained this much better to my mother one night, but my mind is foggy tonight so please forgive my rambling :)
So, Any thoughts?

Permalink Reply by Kixs on October 7, 2012 at 1:24am I have to agree with you, many enities are thought forms that have been given labels. But some are more.
The more is what makes this path so very interesting, there is always more, if you look. Many do not want to look, they are happy with the beginning. To each their own.
Myself, I always have to see what's behind it. What more is there, if I know this, it leads to what?
Permalink Reply by Devlin O'Faolain on October 7, 2012 at 2:08am I believe that one person's concept of evil can be percieved as good in the eye's of another. So many people apply the concept of black and white thinking when looking at good versus evil. As an example, one may think a particulal subject as evil based on beliefs developed at a young age. I was raised as a Christan. I have known since I was young that I was not like other Christians. I was drawn in a different direction. In my young mind I felt that I was evil. I am thirty-eight years old and have just come to terms with who I really am. My beliefs are only "evil" in the eyes of those who practice my former faith.
I obey the law. I seek to better myself. I am a productive member of society. Therefore how can I be evil? There are entities who attach themselves to us for their purposes or our own. Light or Dark is relative to the intent or desired outcome of what one wishes to accomplish. My inner compass tells me when I am way off base. If I wish someone i'll for the wrong reasons I may be being naughty. If I was wronged, then the person deserves the bad they have coming their way. By having the courage of my conviction I am being a very good boy indeed. I feel good and evil are words we use to justify our actions. Sometimes heads is tails, down is up. We are responsible for the choices we make.
I shoulder the burden of my sins quite well. I have no regrets. Most of my sins were enjoyable.

Permalink Reply by Mordred Emrys Morgan on February 13, 2013 at 11:24pm I would explain it like this. Everything that exists was originally an expression if you will. I see it like this; we are all expressions of the universal creative energy, just on a physical level. As beings of this energy, we can create also, like how magick is used to manifest. Every thought that we put out manifests that reality, starting on the plane of conception. The more thought, belief, love or fear put into the concept originally conceived (these all being forms of energy) give life to it and it moves down the many planes of existence closer and closer to ours. Energy when it isn't directed at a goal and allowed to just float around, takes on personality and takes on a life of its own. Quite the same way that all the gods first came to be. People recognizing the energy in the universe directed particular traits to it that were important to that tribe or culture and gave it specific personality. The more the tribes evolved and had new goals and needs, it took on many forms and each form manifested further into beings independent of the original collective. Indeed all these beings do exist and are not just our imagination, but they all started with one thought. That's what I was trying to express, however this is just my understanding. I'm not trying so say I'm right or wrong, it's just what feels right to me.
Permalink Reply by Draig Athar on December 2, 2012 at 2:23pm So you are saying that there are no independent beings out there (light, dark or otherwise) and that they are just made up by us?
Permalink Reply by Joel Milan on February 14, 2013 at 12:25am This is why I have a test trial period working with particular deities and look at their background histories.
Beings that are associated with chthonic, malefic, underworld associations or in history will sometimes manifest under those kinds of energies.
Light beings or those of heavenly realms, what their believers focus into them, will manifest in such phenomena.
Human minds and believers giving such beings a constructed identity like expanded thoughtforms.
I always enjoy videos of dabblers and skeptics on Youtube and other video sites that scoff at entities or beings in ouija board and haunted house or other occult investigations. Hard secularists and atheists that push such phenomena or dare it into existence. Sometimes the aftermath makes for paranormal converts.
WELL i hope you dont mean randy that old man that says hes a skeptic.but he is so not a skeptic.somehow he has a problem with mediums.he goes much further then just test them.he also debunked preachers which was a good thing.but now he makes a mess.i believe that there are evil spirits out there.or confused spirits.i stopped calling them demons cause thats the christian fundamentalists that gave that name to them.i believe practising the occult we will see the diffrence.the diffrence between entities and thought forms or expressions.bb
Permalink Reply by Pipakin on February 14, 2013 at 1:50am I'm don't believe in good or bad Gods, Deities, or other beings. I believe we endow those beings we reach out to with whatever attributes we feel they should have.
Gods have their own histories but its we who, when we look into the histories, decide if they are good or evil.
Permalink Reply by Sagemoon on February 14, 2013 at 9:07am I'm with you and what you say makes a lot of sense. It mirrors many of my own thoughts.
Dear Mordren,
What a refreshing subject, I do not see beings in the form of Good or Evil and though that is to easy to label some and not as easy for others. The fact is many beings do not have ethical nature, after all if your asking for guidance and you want wisdom in area they may lead you down pleasant road or extremely aggressive / negative path to gain that wisdom does that really make them evil? no. That is just the best method of learning for what you asked. I grant you most look for the pleasant road or some what less hard or painful one, but we need to learn to accept that not all things can be learned in pleasant road and depending on the level knowledge or wisdom you seek you may end up sacrificing something in the process. I apologize, that was not entirely your question but I do agree once perception can lead an individual to perceive a being or energy as good / evil but none are good or evil just individual with qualities of both some more highlight then others. Mella'tae
It is my opinion that we give strength and energy to those things we believe in. Therefore, in my belief system, you are correct.
