To those of you who work with stones and crystals, do you have specific favorites?
For instance, I am always drawn to Selenite for it's gentle soothing qualities.
The happy, energetic feel of Citrine is always a joy for me.
I love the fiery power of Garnet.
And Amber is just an all around "feel good" stone for me.

How do you feel about certain stones and why? Do you have any uses for some stones that are "out of the norm" for that particular one?
I'd love to hear your stories.
Blessings

Amitrine for dispersion of some energies as it seems to have a hold and release quality .

Herkimer diamonds , clarity .

Yes, Ametrine does have that feel doesn't it? It's hard to find a good quality piece though! ;)
Oddly, Herkimer is one stone I don't have. Clarity is something I could ALWAYS use. lol
I use Hawk's eye for objectivity. If you've used it, does it feel similar to Herkimer diamond?

I've had difficulties with both tigers eye and hawks eye and have found I need a denser stone with a more hydra-hexagonal rather than fibrous structure . Herkimer's can take a "whack" that not all other stones can handle .
Though I too appreciate a nice piece of Citroen on the appropriate occasion .

Thanks for that. I understand better the differences between the two now.
I'm finding on this thread more than anything else, that there are a lot more stones I need to get!
;)

I have a decent size collection and their are still stones I need . Ones that I also haven't heard of (rare) or have not yet come across .

Moldavite, although it gives many other people headaches...

I've never heard that! I don't own a piece of that either, but I've heard nothing but wonderful things about it.
What is your main use for it?

Moldavite's a piece of either a meteorite, or fused rock from an impact, that landed in what is now the Czech Republic in eastern Europe thousands and thousands of years ago. It looks like green bottle glass. I use it to help me tune in and access the Otherworlds. By the way, most of the people who get headaches from it are women, and they start complaining that their heads hurt within seconds of touching it - why, I don't know...

Wow, most of the people I know who adore Moldavite are women!
I know it's a stone I need...I think...I would hate to get a headache from such a lovely stone. lol!
Thank you for sharing. Now I'm going to ask around about headaches and moldavite and women!
;)

Find a piece, hold on to it for a few minutes while you close your eyes and concentrate, and see what happens...you should know pretty quickly whether it will work for you or not

I own moldavite and I don't get headaches from it.It is a great otherworldly piece ! I love the strong vibrations of zincite .Alexandrite and aquamarine are two of my favs along with celestite-celestial worlds. oh I can't forget amber -protection and peridot- aura protection & black tourmaline -keeps negative energy at bay .I wear huge beautiful pieces of moonstone also -balance .I don't buy garnets for myself,my husband does.Garnets are to be given to you, as it is a stone of love. When I make jewelry I usually choose garnet to give my love and appreciation .I absolutely adore Lemurian Quartz crystals.I sleep with them & Tibetan smokey quartz .My husband and I got some wonderful pieces of Covelite from somewhere in Russia, took a lot to get them to sell us some ! That's all folks !!! I could keep rambling if you prefer. Sorry.

Don't be sorry! I asked for sharing and you certainly have. Share more!! I've heard that Garnets are wonderful to share between lovers. My hubby is uncomfortable around stones, so he doesn't buy me anything like that. He is sweet and buys sapphire and emerald jewelry for me on occasion. He just goes for what he thinks I'll like. And I do love them, but finding quality garnet jewelry around here is tough.
I also love moonstone. My ritual necklace is moonstone chips, and I've been using it for more than a dozen years!
You listed so many wonderful stones. I really hope this thread will start interest among those who haven't really used stones or crystals before. With all this info, I think that's possible
