I just have a question because I have not seen this anywhere.
Does everyone, including those who are not pagan, go to the summerland once they are deceased? Is this what pagans believe or is this something that differs between each religion.
I ask because when I was christian, those who do not believe in god go to hell, as I am sure everyone on this website is aware. So for those who do not believe in the pagan belief, is there something similar? Such as being tortured in the underworld or trapped in-between dimensions, or is it left to a god/dess' discretion?
Any resourses are encouraged. Please be civil.
The Summerland belief does have a basis in my present state of mind. It is an Earthly type paradise that we share with our ancestors and others of similar spiritual identities as our own. I'm not Wiccan, but I have studied Wicca in the past.
I personally don't believe everybody goes to Summerland, or the place of our ancestors in the afterlife. There are cases when a persons spiritual energy is more conducive to a different environment with others of similar spiritual energy.
This is were my beliefs are at this point.
I have heard so many different things about afterlife. I personally believe in reincarnation where you keep getting born again until you essentially learn all the lessons you had to learn and become one with the universe/gods/etc.
But there's no definitive answer as far as do you immediately reincarnate or have to wait until no one remembers you, do you choose to reincarnate or to stay in the summerland, etc.
I do not claim to be wiccan but I do like the term summerland so that is what I am calling it.
I agree on your description about it however, but I think after time my ancestors have reincarnated and are no longer there. Bleh.
Thank you for sharing Clyde.
i agree with you then after u learn the lessons do you go with the gods an goddesses
neither do I :] no worries
I take a Quantum Physics approach. If you are Pagan you goto were your gods have set up their worlds. If your Chrisitan, hindu so forth you og were, your Gods have set up their after life stuff.
I was also thinking about that too. It would be nice if it works that way.

What if your an atheist or an agnostic? Then were would you go in the Quantum Physics approach?
You become Schrodinger's cat in that case....
You end up being in all those afterlives, and none of them. :)
This is indeed the teaching of the Tibetan Book of the dead but it posits a state The clear light beyond duantum fluctuation.
I think it's sort of whatever you believe.
I remember reading the Percy Jackson series where the main characters saw a Christian priest or pastor in Greek Hell. Percy asked why he wasn't freaking out (I mean, he WAS in hell), and it was because you see what you believe (so I'm pretty sure he saw heaven or whatever).
That's sort of my take, anyway.
