Does anyone even check out their friend requests?

Hey all - just had a question. I had recieved a friend request and I accepted it first and then went to the page to check out who I had just "made friends" with. Lo and behold, I stumble upon a "Caps Lock" rant about the superiority of the white race and how the other races expect to have a handout from the government. Needless to say, I ended the friendship. When I looked at this page again, there were people coming onto the friend list right and left, leaving little cutsey comments. My question is, do people read people's profiles before accepting, or are we in it for the points? The third and only other possible option would be that people dig that crap. ?!?!

I seldom turn anyone down as I can usually connect with people through more than one interest. Most of the time I just look at their religious preferences; Pagan, Wiccan, Satanist, Heathen etc. & frequently I get requests before the person has fully filled out their profile because I try to send a Welcome message to all new members as soon as they join.

I have had a couple occasions where I accepted someone and later when they have finished filling out their profile information noticed something that I truely can't agree with, or tolerate and have then removed the person ..... that doesn't happen often as, also I tend to find I can have friendships with people that I disagree with, especially if we can have good discussions/debates and be mature about it ...... I feel I can sometimes give them another perspective or point of view that they may never see if I just hit they deny request button .........

Yes I can be rather optimistic about people and see the good or rather, worth while traits people have and try to accept people the way they are ....... Besides accepting someone who is honest with me about their beliefs and views for who & what they are isn't condoning or promoting the aspects that I disagree with.

I am much more picky on Myspace, but here I tend to just hit accept because I know we are all some sort of Pagan or we wouldn't join this network, and I like to try to see the world from multiple points of view. As to what you were originally saying about the White Superiority (My brother was one of those) I don't agree with that philosophy, and I think we as humans are no more or less important than the tree in my front yard ..... we are all special and unique and have good qualities as well as shortcomings, and I don't condemn anyone for their opinions ...... Also 90% of the time people will rant about something but do not act against it, so as long as they are just blowing off steam with words and not saying things like "lets burn down a church" or harm the people they disagree with I am fine with that. - everyone rants about something at sometime and it is usually just words.
