doing a ritual assignment involving an element i dont normally use, need feedback

I would have posted in fiesty witvhes, but not sure it belongs there

I attended a class last night on running ones altar and learning a bit of the alexandrain tradition. as i am interested in being more organized when i do my own private rituals

I was given an assignment last night to complete and am in the process of trying to work it out

the assignment is pick an element that is outside your comfort zone and set up a ritual based on that element. and give feedback after the ritual is completed.

Normally my element is earth or sometimes water... tonight i have to do fire and air. which i almost never use.

so well, here goes.. time to face the fear factor.... if anyone has any ideas tonight or can give me feedback before i do this . let me know

i am kind of upset right now.. just got calm with one issue... sent my son out to get some icecream and he got jumped by some kids and they took his money.

this is generally a safe neighborhood but there are one or two spots where the kids are smart assess and they chose to target my kid. we just got back from filing a police report and canvasing the area to see if the kids that punked michael were there but they are gon

this was supposed to be a fun growing kind of ritual but we are getting some very wierd stuff happening to us. its almosts like the gods dont want us to be happy.

I got to put some sort of protection on our family and fast. I wish michael hadnt lost his dragon ring.. i am going to have to go get him another one.; ▶ Reply to This

This is a major mistake I had made in the past. I called on the elements and the four directions as I cast a circle but I was doing it by the book. I did what I was supposed to but didn't actually feel it. My Lady pointed this out to me. Focus on the element, feel it, become aware of it and make sure you understand the element in any one direction before moving on to the next one. This clearly demonstrates the difference between book learning and putting things into practice. It was a valuable lesson and one I hope you can benefit from after hearing of my experience.; ▶ Reply to This

Permalink Reply by Light on July 10, 2009 at 7:22pm: The principle of working with Elementals is like a Pyramid - that in a way flows with a foundational Base, and a Spiritual top.
All Elementals are a foundational action, representing higher stages...and just as it is important to understand, and feel the Elemental in focus, it also VERY Wise to know what Guides that Elemental from the Top of the process..

There is certainly a great deal more in working with Elementals that any book will offer, and sadly what the Books do NOT tell you is the hidden aspects - the dangers if there is misguided action.
I also have to say that in some ways I was a little more than surprised to see the format of the assignment...one that was given, and without really any sound guidance or assistance.

It sort of gave me that Visual of being sent out to do the "Test" not because there is a beneficial purpose behind the action - but in that it taught a lesson, kinda of like "Don't play with matches - unless you wish to get burnt".
A few days in putting something together that is maybe going to have a long term affect on things down the road is not altogether a comforting thought. Maybe that is just me - too long in the tooth, and certainly very aware of the intensity and understanding that is needed behind any workings related to magicke, and for that matter Spirit.

It was just recently when doing a activation for a Spiritual Lamp - that I was shown an "extra" lesson to the process..as a "Well now you will know of me in all understandings".

Elementals are vunerable...delicate, and yet will gladly assist any that show themselves to be open and of Honour....more on that lesson below.
The other lesson that was shared is that it is NEVER wise to assume that what is given, will be where it is ...my experience was one of that very Nature - which I have tried to share below.

In my preperations with the activity, the Elementals first expressed themselves in place, and yet they appeared in the opposition - Mirror side. Just as soon as I became aware of that little action, and then in the next stage - assumed that what would be revealed, would be on the opposite side, they actually showed themselves where they had said they would be.
The next action had them again in the Mirror opposite - then as stated - then they totally stayed "Invisible" for several seconds which led to great confusion...and then to doubt of action, at which point they showed themselves in the opposite to where first indicated.
It was only when I gave into the mindset of NO EXPECTATIONS - that is stayed focused both to the center of the action and with periphial visual to either side, that I was given 'satisfaction', with humerous mirth..

The Lessons shared were these:

** The Four Aethyr Elements of Fire, Air. Water, and Earth have principles of which needed to be mastered and understood. The Ego had to be stripped away, and myself became faced with my own Id - Shadow. The Aethyrs are the lower ladder rung to the Higher Energy under which who all the Lessons shown to me become directly engaged. In the same breathe any actions of combat that an outsider may wish to discourage me with (mental or otherwise), will also have to face this Divine Force head on.

** Any binding of a Spirit Aethyr Force to an object, or place will have them bound for all time, be it to steer others away or to guard what is hidden, this actions have a responsive reaction.

** Be careful to always depart from the Aethyrs with respect, and gratitude for their time and help in assisting, and always check that your energy field is in one piece, nothing has snagged or been left
behind.
This is done by feeling the shroud, such as it is, about you...and by knowing that if there is damage or loss what that sensation is like. A little careful time as you make that departure in being in control and conscious of anything amiss saves for a lot of issues later down the road.

** If for any reasons during the process a way is blocked by the Guardian or the associated Aethyr - then just acknowledge the Guardians' action with humility - this access to knowledge and experiences has many layers - and not all are ready for you or in fact you ready to know of it.
Emotions of extending "Want" will only have you being disengaged and returned, and may even lead to a fragmenting of the Id - Shadow part.
It is at this point, that in reading the more recent response concerning the :>>"I didnt feel like my enrgies were scattered until i got that letter"...stage that I felt it feesible to inject this Post...
It is not a Fear to step back and reassess the situation...it is a action of Wise to do so. Your assisgnment (in my veiws) is not all together cosha - complete with all apsects of what is needed and where to go..and the Great Ones are placing warnings to back off...

** If at any time, during the process of the Rirual, there is a sensation of cracking or "crystal" fragmenting about your being - be aware that what follows is a confrontation that will be both strange and confusing.

** Aethyr (Elementals) of Fire are really only engaged by Practitioners of a mature Ka, Ba and Id - (Soul, Spirit, and Shadow) who have ventured many times in this way and can institute a immediate dialogue with these Fiery forces, and their agreeance to act as guides and assistances of Knowledge.

** That there is a connection between illness of the Form and Balance of the Elementals - so always understand where to counteract this if such begins to create a weakness in the actions. If you are not able to do it through a Self inner healing then make sure that there is an object of suffecient value that will act as a substitute.

as you said.. dont play with matches unless youre gonna be burned. ive never been one to jump into anything full force without weighing all my options and i am working on my surprize situation both mundane and majicaly as i am being very proactive about what is going on.

I want some straight answers from the landlord and before i give her any more money i would like to see a few things in writing. as ive said ive already called the bank and today i called two apartments in my area that are renting.

I agree that some spiritual examination is in order and i am facinated by your spirital lamp idea and perhaps this was the answer i was looking for. i would like some more information on how to conduct such a ritual. i can sit here on my rug or outside in the grass and meditate on it., or even walk down to the park by the hudson river or to the labrynth thats by the st aquinas shrine in sparkill.

if you have any guidance on how to conduct this..please do so.i would appreciate correspondence on this.; ▶ Reply to This

It's a means of tapping into the inspiration and passion of the two elements when it's something free form rather than plotted out. It doesn't matter whether or not it's using words or technically precise steps, the energy you raise will move you in the best way to accomplish your goals. Sounds rather than an actual song or chant works just as well and frees your mind up.

Another method of connecting to elements you might not have an affinity with is to use the elements that you do have a connection with and find them within the others. You have an affinity with earth, find the fire of the earth use that to find the earth within the fire. You can do the same thing with water and air. Find the air within the water and let it lead you to the water within the air. All the elements have aspects of all the others within them, move from your strengths and you should find it alot easier to work with them as you understand them better.; ▶ Reply to This

Every step is enhanced by a lesson from the Elementals that may choose to be involved, and of the Divine Force to which they represent.

The option to choose them is not applicable...in fact once the process begins - then you are in their hands and under their guidance...and they decide if they will be agreeable to working with you.

The most formidiable part of the process is that you cannot at any point decide to "Bind" or hold them in the action...nor can you choose to make a demand of them for any purpose..or ask for them to provide.
What they do offer is to work alongside of you - to Guide and aid in knowledge and understanding...and to assist in that quest without pre-conceived actions or thought.

Once the Lamp is created, it can ONLY ever be used for that Spirit purpose, and no other...it is not open to a process that violates it's "home" - a tempoary home that whener the Light is on will call them to settle in and assist, but does not necessarly guarantee their arrival every time.....especially if they feel that what is being seeked, you are not ready to know off as yet.

There is also no choice as to the Ayther (Elemental) that agrees - and more than often it is NEVER a Fire one in full attire....Fire will always be a part of the process....but tempered by another Ayther, and that guiding Supreme Force.

The Meditational process should not exceed more than 20mins....if at all...better to take a walk, and in doing so...look for signs on the way. Tune into the Nature Aythers about you through that walk, and whatever appears in the Path in front - take up and place in a bag.
Do this for a week, and slowly over the days - IF the Aythers are in agreance to this action, the objects that come from no-where will increase.
Then if you feel comfortable with continuing....write of that list...and I will know what is to be next..

I would deeply hope that before you make any activation with a Lamp relating to the above, that you consider first going over what is being presented through the Spirits etc first.
What was given so far was just a speck in the whole of the final preperations..and the first stage is just that a week of "gathering"...that what may be given.
