Gee, that's a real shame.
Oh wait...NO IT ISN'T!!
I think it's significant that they apologized even though it doesn't fix the damage they have done. They were open for almost 40 years. After all of that time they basically just said yeah this was all crap and it doesn't work. I hope that changes the mind of some people who believe that it is something that can or needs to be cured.
The commentary from the 'Ex Gay Survivor' was interesting. He outwardly testified that Exodus International was at the center of bills in Africa which orchestrate genocide. In hindsight, they can look back and say "Oh well, we were wrong. We became institutionalized rather than being the image that God intended", but at the end of the day they had a cultural effect that ended in mass murder. Now they want peace. I guess its rather easy to create chaos, then just walk away from it. People do it all the time. Perhaps in time, people will come to realize that 'praying the gay Away', isn't working and they will stop trying to subjugate and oppress in the name of their lord. Then again, maybe not. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I'd like to see that happen myself. Unfortunately, there is precious little reason to hope for it. The same people who advocate for the slaughter of LGBT people in other countries are making their lives miserable as best they can here, too. Even though they're now claiming their ministry will continue, albeit with a different focus, there's no reason to believe they won't be causing just as much grief and harm as they did before.
My thoughts? About time.
