This morning I went to NFL.com to read about football as a man does from time to time when I saw an interesting headline...

'Ex-Bengals Cheerleader pleads Guilty to sex with Former Student'

Took me a second to realize what I was reading article linked here:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000078627/article/exbengals-ch...

So here we have another case of a woman sleeping with an underage male, now besides all the typical male jokes about him being a player, etc, etc. Ok she's going to get out of jail time because the family was being uncooperative...

She's not even going to be registered as a sex offender?

I paused. So you're telling me a teacher who sleeps with her under legal age students, isn't a sex offender?

Look, All I'm saying is if a man did this, he'd basically be screwed for life, period. Sex offender what ever... and in almost all cases he should be. He took advantage of situations and our laws clearly state the age of consent in these situations...

Not to mention the favoritism etc, etc.

We're supposed to be aiming towards equal treatment across the board and if you're going to charge one side of the coin, you should damn well charge the other.

She should at the VERY least be a registered sex offender.

Agree or Disagree? Thoughts?

Yep, I completely agree with what you're saying here. I am a feminist, and by that I mean that I strive for equality, not female supremacy. I think that letting a woman off for something that a man would be charged for is just as bad in a way, because she is still getting different treatment, even if it is now in a way that benefits her.

I admit to not knowing the ins and outs of the particular case, I guess there could be some reason for her being let off, I don't know, but I completely agree that gender equality means EQUAL treatment, not favouring one gender over another in any situation.

I agree with this reply. In the same sense, there's also that part where plenty of men still get off on rape, statutory or not. That's about my only argument and to me, that's not good enough.

Too many older guys and even women, seem to think they should high-five the situation of a women having sex with a student, or a woman having sex with a younger male at all. Little to they know that there are plenty of cases where the statutory rape, IMO, isn't always actually statutory rape, but actual rape. Like, rape of the "there wasn't even a tiny bit of underaged consent here." They just call it that because, what underaged boy doesn't want to score with an adult woman, am I right?

So, like, this whole matter can't be a coil because there's more than two possibilities and/or sides here. If that makes any sense.

Let us swap problems

This case is simple. They didn't have enough evidence to prosecute. But they knew she did it. The boy would not cooperate with authorities. It was a coin toss whether taking this to trial would actually end in a conviction. But it was sure to make headlines. So a deal was struck. She pleads guilty and they don't register her as a sex offender. They get their conviction and she gets what she wants and the NFL doesn't get drug through the mudd.

Setting deals, instead of spending huge amounts of money to prosecute is standard in high profile cases. Men do it all the time in high profile cases. Now it's equal, the woman gets to do it to.

The law has nothing to do with justice.

What Kixs said.  They prosecute on a case by case basis.  For all the female sex offenders who cop a plea, there are dozens of male date rapists who don't get accused at all.

Let's not start on this 'who has it worse' crap.

Hey, in my country I can sleep with a 16 year old and it would not be illegal!

And if I only did it to freak you people out with legal "pedophilia" hahaha, maybe the resulting turmoil would be worth it.

You need to lower the legal age, because people who want sex, will get it anyway, and when I was at that age, I picked a way older man because I wasn't attracted to the clueless and anxious.

In Japan the legal age is 14.

I have yet to meet a 14 year old I perceive as desirable.

same here, not even mentioning having much in common with one. When I see teens, I feel an incredible urge to troll them uncontrollably, because well, teenager problems are hilarious.

Maybe we could become big as Sextrolls in Japan.

Good idea, we could even start our own ring and deal with the yakuza there.

I agree.
