Last week, my mom, boyfriend and I went to see a psychic. I was house sitting for my father and I had noticed that there was a new psychic down the street, so we all decided to try it out. She said she did everything from palm reading to Tarot Reading to Chakra and Spirit readings. I had a palm reading before at the corn festival, and the reader was very accurate with my read so I thought I would try it again to see where my lines had shifted and changed.

The first thing that really made we not feel right about the psychic we saw last week is that she was pushing Christianity and church in her reading. I grew up Christian, I even went to a Catholic junior high school, and I was told growing up that everything I was doing such as Tarot, and palm reading was against the Christian church. However I have had issues with the Christian church, and I have been seeking my own spirituality now including mu curiousity with Tarot,, palm reading, mediations, and pyschic ablibilty.

The second thing is she had told each one of us that we had spirits following us. Here's the thing with as many people that have died in this world I could easily see how you can run into a restless spirit or two. However she was claiming that it was the reason for a bad luck. She told me that this spirit that was following me was the real reason why I am distracted from writing my story and why I am so unhappy most of the time. The thing is ever since puberty I would have moments of unhappiness, I just believe it is hormones, not necessarily a spirit.

The third thing that really rubs me the wrong way about this psychic is she was pushing all of us getting cleansings. I understand that cleansing are very important, but I just paid 20 dollars for a reading that maybe she could tell me something about me that I didn't know or what possiblities there in my future with my writings. I wasn't looking at her like a doctor at a check up and I have to go back every three months for a 100 dollar cleansing. She was trying to get at least 100 dollars out of each of us. I understand some people make a living using their psychic gifts, but I really felt she was just too pushy with it.

I was just wondering has anyone else has a bad experience with a psychic?

there's one to the right of the screen... -------->

"What's in your future? Ask a psychic a FREE QUESTION"

My question is "How much will you charge me for my second question?" lol

This is how you test a Psychic, like the ones online. Sit in your underwear wearing a pointed Witch's hat, one boot, dark glasses and flashing red bow-tie. Then ask them to describe what your wearing, as your free question.

If they get if right, then they're the real deal, either that, or you left your web-cam on. . . DOH!!!

The answer to that is obvious, but since you can't pay perhaps your girlfriend can, or you can sell your guitar for the funding, but of couse that is after you pay your court costs and talk with your probation officer. :-)

Ooohhh--today that ad tells me that "A secret admirer will soon send you a sign of affection." I cannot wait! :-)

Dear Friend, "A gift freely given is never paid for. If it is, then it becomes a service. Which is worthy of a fee. Once the fee is paid, the seer loses the gift. Gifts and fees never go hand and hand, one always cancels out the other." This was something I was taught as a youngling. BB&MM LR

Yeah hun I believe that 'psychic' hustled you. Even though I'm a Witch and believe and do magical workings I dont believe in 'psychics' at least not in the type you'll see on TV or the psychic network. I do believe in everyone's ability to connect with people an have good intuition....and there's nothing paranormal or supernatural and it's no "gift" or anything like that. I do use forms of divination for guidance and answers but I am no psychic. I'm also very intuitive but that's about it. My grandma is a methodist that reads tarot cards and she has the same stance on it. She makes no claims to have psychic powers or any such nosense she just wants to help people and she would be able to do this and provide guidance via tarot. As a witch I find divination to be a traditional practice within the Craft- its something I think every witch should have some kind of grasp on because we can use it as a tool to connect with ourselves and others and some witches may also use it as a kind of oracle to "speak" with the gods and spirits of the land.

I will add that I think some people may be a bit more intuitive than others and pick up on certain things more quickly. For example whenever there is a lightning storm I will tend to get a chill on my back seconds before lightning crashes- I dont think this is some kind of super ability or anything I think its something that just comes with the territory when you start working with the earth's energies...to me its all completely natural. Also I'm very accurate when it comes to reading a person and learning their intentions....very handy when it comes to making friends and steering away from the two faced bunch.

Don't confuse charlatans with actual psychics simply because they charge money. Any reading, regardless of what type, should include healing such as getting rid of what ever is following you(if in fact anything is following you). You should never be left hanging. As far as 'future' readings, the future constantly changes, so don't fall for any of that.

Yes, you are correct about restless spirits - the planet is full of them.

Find an individual that assists you to go within and discover for yourself what is going on. Truth is always far more powerful if you discover it for yourself. There are many such people - personally I recommend a shaman (simply because I am one). A shaman, medicine person, can help you go within, clear up any spirits 'following' you, and help you to create and manifest (write your story).

I appreciate everyone's responses/feedback. I didn't think I would get the turn out that I did.

I do realized I had gotten scammed. I only gotten scammed for 20 dollars which included a reading and a few stones she gave me. I personally felt she was wrong to call herself a psychic, palm reader, and tarot reader and then push Christianity on me. If I wanted Christianity I would have gone to a church. I wanted more insight of my spirit and myself that I didn't see.
When she told me she wanted 100 dollars for a cleansing, I knew it wasn't right and I haven't been back ever since.

The reason I was even there was because I had a palm reading years ago at a local festival that went very well and was very accurant. I just wanted to know now what lines had changed or if I was on the same path.

I am on my path of spirituality and self enlightenment and I take this as a learning experience.

Again I appreciate all of you who reponded to my forum.

I would say that you were lucky not to be taken in, con artist like that make a tidy living off the fears and emotional vulnerabilities. When I worked in an occult store a few years ago, we were told that when we did readings to get the person to buy candles and baths and incenses to I could never bring myself to do this. if a person had such abilities why can't they predict the winning lottery numbers or the winners of the World Series, or the Triple Crown? And please don't say a person can't use their abilities for their own peersonal welfare, if they are charging for their "gifts" they are profiting from them.
