handfasting information
I was wondering if anyone here has gotten handfasted and actually used the tying of the hands. I have managed to find a couple people to do and write the ceremony thanks to suggestions from you folks I dont really know how the cord used in a handfasting is used excally. I know that its used to tie the hands but thats about it. Any info on this would help cause google isnt so helpful.
Some of the things that I would like to know is when is the binding of the hands done in the ceremony? Is there some kind of blessing that is usually done while tying the hands? which hands do we use? Do we leave with our hands still tied? (also we are doing a mix between a handfasting and a wedding with an added "vow" part for me and his kids to exchange as official parent and child. So the hand binding will have to work around this part). any other information would be greatly appreciated!!!

A lovely topic to discuss -and I am sure thare are so many different versions that will emerge for you to see.
The above pics are from the last Handfasting that I was present at -summer Slstice 2011, in Wales, and the couple are folk who have denounced monetary materialism, and live by thier effort of work for barter, and growing their own food on a small fledgling commune they have set up, so `Grande` celebrations were not of importance, being together is.
Your Handfasting can be as elaborate or simple as you wish -after all, its Your day, and all about you n your committment to each other before the Gods:)
The `Oath` undertaken by both, was written by themselves, and the Handfasting facilitated by Priest n HPriestess at time of Solstice -that was important for them.
The binding of hands came after Oath n committment, over the Wand of the Coven, and Oaths undertaken with Athame placed at the heart of each by Priest to Bride, HPriestess to Groom.
The sharing of an Apple together , a Chalice of Mead, and the Kiss was followed by the Cord binding, then together they `jumped the Besom`, hands bound, and began their new life together.
They used the Cord to fashion 2 bracelets which they both now wear and havent removed since the Ritual, someting nice of their choice:)
This is but a snapshot of what goes on, Im sure many others will add to your knowledge.
