`Hello all,
I suffer from bad reactions to mosquito bites...is there any way to stop the itching once you already have a bite? Its so unconfortable...and swells...and is itchy and burns...any ideas?
Basil oil works wonders. I myself am not much bothered by them, but my friend as well as her feline friends have found good use of my oil producing and she can't get enough of it, lol. Also, you can find a good bit of info on the wildcrafting thread. S'pose I'll have to revive it.
No prob, the thread in question is back on the main board. An easy way to make the oil yourself, if you are so inclined, is to fill a seal-able container with basil (either dried or fresh) and cover it either with a good virgin olive oil or grapeseed oil and let it steep for 2-6 weeks. After straining the herbs from the oil, bottle in amber or cobalt bottles. Doesn't help the immediate problem I know, but for future reference, as I'm sure the nasty buggers will be back next year.
I live in FL, mosquito haven, I have not been bitten once this year. They must have gone elsewhere. But, when I did get bit I used Aloe from my plant. Always took the itching and swelling down. For future reference if you are in area with lots of the pests, try putting on skin so soft by Avon, Smells good and keeps the boogers away :)
Mosquitos are everywhere here. I am learning homeopathy from my grandmother and she says to use Tea Tree oil for mosquito and insect bites as well as bee stings and the like.
i have the same problem...borderline allergies to mosquito bites and we here have also been infested to an unsusal degree this summer...
a friend's father swears by toothpaste...it always worked for me and is something you will hopefully always have onhand. something about the mint soothes the pain and the paste itself dries it out and keeps the pain and itching away...
though i haven't found anything to reduce the swelling.
