TwilightEmerges - the Non Pagan

I says Satanism is linked in DA Bibles and Christians are bad mamajamas, get off our site!

Hopefully you all read this thread from the colorful titles.

No matter which thread brings it up, there is always a lot of good information that gets posted against the OP in the first couple of minutes. Then after that, everyone else who doesn't have anything to say on the actual topic starts petting and patting egos and the butts of the people posting.

Seriously, 45 pages of drivel. Are we that childish? Do we need to stand behind our posters and talk about cake walks and sugar daddies?

I thought we were all 18+, but with some of the down right nasty behaviors that's become common place it's almost not even an enjoyment to join in on a discussion. I love to read Sin's post, or Pavs for that matter. They are really intelligent and really good debaters. I love to read topics that are all discussions from multiple stand points. In fact I find it very educational.

But, that educational information gets DROWNED and DESTROYED in a sea of "Woo you go girl." "Yeah" "Omg you're my leader" "Have my children's children's babies?" "Homg, U R SO SMART" "I cnt type bt GO U!" "I r not as smart AS U!" "-licks butt-"

Didn't that get annoying to read? I know that did for me to type it. :( Can't we all let Sin and Pav handle their own without complimenting on them every two seconds? I mean I can almost feel the egos getting ready to destroy space and time as we know it. xD :P -I love you Pav, Sin.

Let's just... be considerate. I would like to have read a lot of Sin and Pav's posts on the matter. But I can't SEE THEM because every time I go to the next page I have to friggin' find the post that I was just reading to find where Sin or Pav posted because everyone else just SPAMMED up the thread to the point where it physically moved the line of thought I was reading four pages ahead. D:<

So let's chill on the spamming. Please? I mean a little bit of ego petting is expected. It's Pav and Sin damnit. >__> But not 45 pages. D: I get lost... and confuzzled!

"HOMG U R SO RIGHT!"

:P Couldn't help myself.

Okay, but ALAN... you know your stuff, you're sweet, you're open, you listen to what others have to say, and when you voice your opinion, you do so without being overly judgmental or condescending? That, my friend, is the difference.
If you tell me you were initiated as a 4th degree Wiccan, I'll believe it based on the fact that I find you extraordinary, so why wouldn't others?
That's very sweet of you to say, Dailgneachd.

I'm not the scholar that a lot of folks are. I'm a B student because I'm lazy, I suppose. I try to speak based on my experiences, however, and freely admit that that doesn't mean it's a universal truth, just what I've seen.

And as for the 4th degree... well, it definitely was unexpected, and while the ceremony is in my BoS I don't really see a need for it. Just like the whole "Incarnate Angel" thing, it doesn't give me keys to uber magical power, phenomenal cosmic wisdom, or even a nifty secret washroom between the worlds. So I tend not to put a lot of stock in it :)
Oh Alan, it's not about scholarship. Hell, it's not even about how many books you've read or who you've studied with --- it's about knowing (and admitting to) your limitations as well as your strengths.

I don't know crap about a lot of things, and it would take a couple of hard ciders and a psilocybin suppository before I waded into a forum spewing blatant poseur-nonsense and covering my ass.

What's the big friggin deal with some people about admitting what you don't know? I do it all the time. I speak Shrug as a second language. Chances are someone in whichever audience or forum or mailing list really does know something about "x," and trying to fake your way through is just going to end in a flailfest. :P
I was dyin'. Me and Arachneh had a bit of fun with that one.

Oh yeah . . .

And now I'm rethinking that totally recreational next trip to Salem. :P
Admittedly he had a style all his own, though I wouldn't agree that what he formed through his books and manuals is what you'd quite call a trad.

A 'tradition' implies that it's shared in the same manner by a group.

It's 'tradition' to click your heels together three times to feel your way home. (Wizard of oz reference). If you jump up and down instead, you have broken tradition.
I love a lot of what Scott wrote, and I wish he hadn't died so young. But, unless he started a specific Wiccan Tradition himself, then there isn't one that belongs to him.

I'd be fine saying that someone could practice Wicca in a "Cunningham style", but there is no Cunningham tradition associated with Scott. The word becomes a sticking point because of what "tradition" means in relation to Wicca, I think.

Hugs, blessings, and stuff like that there

That's why I just read the long threads once a day, beginning to end.

Yeah I occasionally do that. But after that thread just became dominated I gave up. I really did.

I, personally, think it's a very healthy thing when I see what was snipe-at-snipe turn into funnies, giggles instead.

So do I, Sabrina.

To my mind, it's a "Festive Feeding-Frenzy." Any opportunity (or desire on the OP's part) for a real exchange of info has long since gone down the crapper, so it's time to load it up with wiener dogs and "hi, how are yous" and all manner of fun stuff. Sort of a consensual form of communications mayhem.

I've seen it happen about once every month or two here so far . . . and almost exclusively with a new poster coming in with a chip on their shoulder and no sense of social boundaries.

(dedicated to the sacrifical humor idiots blatantly ask for)

Love it! :D

Yeah, I guess the humor was wasted huh? No sense of humor what-so-ever.

I guess the "I bow to no man, no religion" got lost on him ...giggles.
