I'm starting a class tonight, at my Church(yes, I am half Christian) on the Salem Witch Trails, and the Occult.

Any thoughts?

I'll let you all know how it goes.

Just curious...  What's a "half Christian"?  Does that mean that you only half-believe in Jesus?

I dont mean this rude, but how can you be half-christian?

I'm thinking, perhaps I should call myself a Were-heathen. That'd qualify me also for Otherkin.

Are you teaching the class, or attending?

Are there going to be both Christians and Pagans attending? Does this church welcome pagans (CUUPS or UU)?

I'm assuming the OP means they are Christo pagan.  Does it really need to be explained?

What does the Salem Witch Trials have to do with the occult?

Nothing.. I was wondering that as well.

Erm... what exactly is it that is being taught at this class?  The "witches" in Salem weren't actually witches, and the trials (and people involved) had nothing to do with the occult...

The occult and the Salem Witch Trials were two different animals.

It's obvious the slave woman was teaching the girls some occult parlor tricks, but the trials were nothing but hysteria, scapegoating and people out to settle scores whether personally or politically.

Though I am distinctly anti-Christian (the political Christianity which exists today), I’d hope they do go into what They would deem the Occult.

And maybe people will learn something.

Yes, I believe this to be true but none the less the mindset of the population at this time period was ripe for hysteria..
