On a lighter note... In school I was not the best of students, so I didn't really learn as much as I should have. It wasn't until I started studying various aspects of paganism and wicca and magick that I actually learned some of the things I should have learned in school.
The biggest thing that comes to mind right now is the phases of the moon. Until I began studying Wicca, I honestly thought the moon's phases were just some random occurrence...lol
Anyone else learn anything as a pagan that they would not have known about otherwise?
And keep it light and fun, we need a break from the deep and philosophical stuff...
It struck me one day that my ancestors could perform feats of wonder with a few weeds... but that I couldn't even name the weed that was growing out of my sidewalk. It made me sad... so I picked up some books on herbs and have been learning ever since.
I would never have learned half the things I know abou the pagan origins of many of the non-pagan celebrations in this country and others. OF course, chicken or egg... was I interested in those things because I was pagan or did an interest in those things lead me to paganism?
For me too! Could not understand the symbology of Easter at all, let alone the name! "Hurray, Jesus is alive, now, let's go look for colored eggs laid by a rabbit!?" WTF? Now, I understand.
i learned about the different elements and the watchtowers...oh, i am much better with my directions now...lol...
I also learned how to make energy balls :)
