Ok I can definately understand how overwhelming it can be, slow down and take a breather. There is a HUGE amount of information and it can be overwhelming. What I did was sit back and reflect, think about who I was, what felt right to me, and not what someone else says or believes. Also consider do you have roots in a particular tradition, native american, a family histroy, etc. etc. etc. I was raised baptist and grew tired of all the you're going to hell, hellfire and brimstone lectures on a weekly basis. Currently I follow a Wiccan path and have had a great acceptance with family on my wifes side, my peers at work and in general. I enjoy helping people and have explored Reiki and have my level 1 in this as well. I was put on my path thanks to friends of mine and even though theirs is not mine I have a great respect for them. I have circled with a very close knit family that I still consider an extended family and I still feel new at times so do not feel bad and do not get discouraged. Take the time to think about what you want from a particular path and then research it. Ask yourself does the really appeal to me, does it "feel" right to me ? Attempt to locate some groups in your area, most have open circles that you can attemd with little or no notice. Go and see if this is a good fit with you. Most people will not be offended and are very tollerant, I have seen this on many of occasions, if you feel that the group or you are not a good fit with one another. I hope this helps, feel free to drop me a line or add me if you like !

My advice to you, my dear, when it comes to what you read, take everything with a grain of salt. When you find what's right for you, you'll know it. We're all searching for answers of one type or another. And we're all continually learning. Read as much as you can, learn as much as you can, ask all the questions you can. It's not the destination that's really important, it's the journey and what you do with it.

Greetings Tina: This is the best advice you could give any one.

I am still seeking, but I haven't really read any books cause I don't know what to believe or what not to believe either. I just go by what I already believe. I did read a paragraph or two of what Wiccans believe and I already believed what I read, but I'm not Wiccan. Maybe, later.

I take what I already believe. If I believe something new, it's because I've lived it.

I think that the people who posted before me gave you excellent advice. So, I can't really say much more.

You may want to find some books to read, just to get some other viewpoints.

I read several books over the last several months. Some things sound right to me, other things don't. While I agree with some of the basic tenets of Wicca, I'm not, nor do I ever expect to be, Wiccan. If nothing else, gathering the knowledge about different belief systems is helpful for discussing things with others. It can also help define your own beliefs, as you sort through what sounds right and what doesn't.

Paganism is a vast expanse of belief systems. Honestly I do not think any of us are supposed to walk the exact same path, just like no 2 fingerprints are alike. We carry similar spiritual thoughts sometimes and that is fine, as it is nice to walk alongside someone and share things, but even with parallel paths there will be different perspectives, as we all have had different experiences that have helped to form who we are inside. We are all individuals and need to find the best of who we are through our own unique spiritual journey in the world.

To me there is no absolute right or wrong, & I believe that every religion has a bit of truth hidden within its practice. We all just need to be open-minded in our search for knowledge.

My advice is read everything, question everything, and then decide what resonates with your spirit, sometimes meditation helps …… When you find something that speaks to your heart - that will be the beginning of your path.

My path is a rather long and winding road that sometimes circles back on itself, but it never stays the same it grows and changes as I do. With every bit of information I learn.

Take care, & Blessings, Cat =^o^=

Everyone has given sound advice, I don't know that I can really add to that.
I have also read many books, and somethings in books I can relate to and make sense to me, other things I think, well, it's possible, but I am not feeling it.
I go with my feelings and those things I can connect to.
For example, I'm not one who is in to regular rituals, but I will do them when I feel the need.
It works for me.
You just need to take everything that you have found and make it your own.

Forget what you read.
Take a step back and look around, breathe and hold close what is most dear.

If you need to connect just step into a wooded areas, dig up some soil and feel it, smell it and know it's where we come from.

You will not find the answers in books, just live and be.

Awesome answer, UozAhm.

You might not find the answers in books...but they can at least help you with what questions to ask.

Not everyone can feel the connection in the woods, and even those who can sometimes need help to figure out WHY they feel that connection, and WHAT they're actually feeling. Books can help when you don't have another person to talk to...or when the people around you don't feel the same connections that you do.

take a breath. do some medatation or thinking and figure out what basically or generally you feel is right. read a book. put it down let it sink in think it over.

i felt the same way last year when i discovered that i was pagan. i decided to read about one type of paganism at a time and see how it settled.

it seems REALLY overwhelming at first but in time you'll find your path.

you don't have to decide now or even next year or 10 years from now

it will all be okay :D
