PaganSpace.net The Social Network for the Occult Community

Hi, hello and merry meet. I am considering studying with a mgickal group or at least trying to get to know them and what I was wondering is if anyone had any tips for what kinds of things to espect. Maybe if people wanted to share thier experiences with magickal groups I would like to hear them. I don't know too much about the ones I'm talking to, but I think we have alot in common as far as interests go, but I've never joined any type of group before. Any help or opinions would be very nice if you have time. I hope you all have a blessed day and thank you.

You may go through many groups before you find the right fit. The only real tip I have is to be on the look out for the over-egoed Priestess or Priest. Be aware that there are folks out there who are into creating their own cults of personality. If something doesn't feel right discuss it, and if it still doesn't feel right, it may not be the group for you. If you feel like the Mysteries are being dangled in front of your face, but YOU can never experience them.....THAT is a red flag! The best groups will encourage you to be a free thinking human being and will involve you in the group process, even if you are brand new, although how much say or decision making you might have would depend on your experience & level of dedication to that group. All things should have a tangible process.

Hope this helps!
Best Wishes,
Chicago Jen

Thank you very much. I feel that these are real people and I think they are ok. I'm going to give them a chance if they give me one. Nothing's set in stone quite yet.

Oh... and another key thing; is the group "interested" in gardnerian Wicca, or are they a lineaged Gardnerian Circle?

If they carry lineage, that's one thing (and is actually checkable, there are places where you can ask them to be vetted and they'll be proven if they're the real thing)

However, if they're just reading from a book or an online bos, and claim that what they're doing is Gardnerian though there's no gardnerian initiates in sight, dont look back... just run.

That's good to know. I worry thought that I might offend someone if I ask that they spout off their pedigree... I am told so far that there is an emphasis on writing their own rituals and I'm not sure if I can keep up, but I would like to give it a try anyhow. I'm waiting on a return e-mail now.. I don't expect it today as they claim to be very busy. Supposedly I am talking to a HPS of a coven. I don't know. I'm still weighing the pros and cons. Have a good day! Blessings.
