"Life is a journey not a destination"-explain that to someone who has no life

i heard that quote off some movie....at first i was like "wow that's right"...but now I'm like "Bullshit"...cause I have no life. I'm serious. I got to work n I come home. I'm all alone at work n all alone at home. I honestly have no life other than staring at my walls watchin the paint peal. So does that mean there is no journey in my existance, because by the looks of things I'm going to be in the same place this time next year. Unless I'm dead.......

Hmmm, let me do this correctly...

*grabbing your shoulders, turning you around to face me, looking straight into your eyes* You are on a special path. You just happen to be caught in a "holding pattern" right now. We all go through these periods, and they all pass. There is no stasis, there is only change. And the change will come.

Ditto dear Fionn,

There is no stasis.

I know. I know. It's just hard sometimes to remember I have a path when I realize i have no one to travel it with.....I'm the kind of person that thrives on others. I don't like being alone....makes my head ugly after a while....The more people around me - even if I don't know them - the better I feel. I don't know...I'm just weird. Thanx for your comment. I appreciate it greatly!!!!

Just because it's a Journey doesn't mean your going anywhere. You choose where you go and what you do. If you choose to sit there then your journey is sitting on a stump, spaced out. You have to consciously close off the things around to to not grow every day. Make goals. Read books. Expose yourself to new things. These are ways to stand up and start moving towards something on your journey. For the most part, you decide what that something is. It could me something as simple as growth and change (in your mind).

You are the one responsible for making the journey. So get out a Community Calendar, decide on what activities look interesting, and go do them. It isn't gonna drop in your lap.

Courtney,

Where would you like your journey to take you? Sounds like an easy question yet it is one that has many possibilities.

You have been given some great advice. There are times when it really can appear that we are stuck and going no where, but where we 'are' is getting us ready for the next step in the journey..

no one ever said the journey would be easy, or always pleasant. everyone has a life, just because you aren't happy with it doesn't mean you don't..just because you want it to be different doesn't mean you don't. I've been there. Eventually I made a change. I quit my crappy retail job, and ended up getting a much better one, that got me through what i needed to get through till I had the oppertunity to go back to school for what i really wanted to do.

Your life is yours to live, no one can or will live it for you. it's up to you to take responsibility for it and make it what you want it to be.

I'll explain this to you on your own terms: life IS a journey, whether you feel like you have a life or not. if you wake up in the morning you have a life. what you CHOOSE to do with it is completely up to you. if all you want to do is wallow in self-pity, then guess what? that's all you're going to get out of it. every moment of every day you are confronted with choices. do you wear the blue shirt or the red one today? do you eat toast or cereal for breakfast? do you listen to this CD or that one at work? do you sit there and watch the paint peel or do you get up, kick yourself in the ass, and go out and FIND something to give your life a little meaning? like someone else said here, life isn't going to dump happiness into your lap for you; that ain't how it works. it's up to Y O U to determine what makes you happy right now, and plan out a course of action that will acquire those things for you. start small, because small goals are more easily achieved. then, once you get the hang of it, aim higher. if you don't want to be in the same place at this time next year, then MAKE yourself NOT be there. life ISN'T really all that scary, honest. people have been living through it for years...I'M serious.

Blessings, to you. Let me see if I can help you here. My life is a little similar seeing as I go to work and come home. When I'm not working, I'm usually at home-which sucks because I would rather be at socializing and having fun whenever I can. Trust me, nobody likes that feeling because I know I don't. But I don't think it means you're not dead at all. There was a quote I came across earlier. "3 choices in life:
give up, give in, or give it your all."

Life is more than just a journey, it is a pilgrimage and a quest, and the sooner one realizes its sacred character, the sooner one can start to find meaning and purpose in it. You need to find your purpose to give your journey some direction. Why not start by scraping the peeling paint and painting the walls ... make murals...
