MM all~

I was wondering what type of meditation techniques work for you.
I'm trying to get back into meditation and I remember how it was when I taught myself. It was really hard. Any techniqe suggestions for a beginner? (I'm basically a beginner again).

Here's a good one I use.
Sit with feet on the floor comfortably, arms not crossed to keep the flow of energy open. Breathe deep, in and out slowly. Imagine you are in a beautiful place, possibly a meadow with flowers, the sun shining, and birds chirping, the wind blowing slightly. Once you feel comfortable there, imagine that the flow of energy or light is coming up from the center of the Earth and into your root (your feet). It flows up through your being and through your 7 chakras to the crown or top of your head. It flows back down to your tailbone (another root to keep you grounded) and back into the Earth. The light shoots up your base or root, up now to your crown and out the top of your head to the universe. Surround yourself with white light. As it comes back down and out of your other root (the tailbone) again. Do this a few times. You will feel the light so brightly around you and into the universe. Gather yourself and your light as it goes back out of your root and into the Earth again. You are grounded and now realize where you are. You will feel great peace.
This can also be used to help clear energy in your surroundings by sending that white light out into the room, house, office, wherever. Hope that helped. It was a quick one to explain, but really works for me. Love and Light!

I was going through the net for something and I came across a meditation 101 course. Now, I know it may not be the perfect way to start - but atleast in the beginning it is good to have a cookbook way of learning. Later you can modify it. http://healing.about.com/c/ec/37.htm

Excellent Link Ashwini......

basically Monica...find what you like...and make it personal to you.......

Its pointless ..me saying..do this or do that.....

what works for me may not necessarily work for you.....

or vice versa..

there are any number of basic methods...focussing on the tip of your nose....breathing...mudhras....mantram....the space between..thoughts..the space between breaths....

as many different types...as many different groups putting a different spin on any aspects to single it out....

whatever is the most comfortable for you...
Oh...and dont be misled..

you may see these cds saying a guided meditation...where they get you to See all kinds of groovy things...

Thats visualisation.......

meditation..is you under your own will....

you may use music....but the aim is not to be listening to the music.....

when there is no longer anybody there...thats when you know that you are doing it right!...

that takes a lot of time depending on how may obstacles you choose to place in your own way....

Thank you for the reply.
I completely understand that not all techniques will work for me and such and vice versa. I'm just trying to see how everyone else does them, what works for them. For informational purposes(it also makes a good discussion) and to see if any of them work for me.

I was trying last night to visualize and such when i was in bed (it takes me a while to fall asleep most of the time so i try before i actually fall asleep, i usually stop after about 5 mins or so and then relax and let myself fall to sleep which is hard in itself 99% of the time without doing any visualization or meditation at all) I'm finding the same to be true from when i first started doing this a long time ago.. my mind is like a tv and the channel button the remote control is stuck and all these images and thoughts keep going through my mind rapidly and constantly and the more i try to stop it or ignore it the worse it is. But with time i know it'll become easier.

LOL.. i dunno.. i'm coming out with another one.. about grounding and centering.. but i look through discussions first to see if any has been started already.

LOL.. I like using the discussion board.. and there is already a discussion on it (grounding and centering) but only three replies.. I notice that groups aren't always so active. And I don't participate in groups that much anyways on a regualr basis... LOL... I'm thinking about re-surfacing that discussion instead of making another new one.

yes it is.. i've been there with the starting of a group and not have many replies or any replies at all.. and i have a tendancy to not participate in groups that often so discussion forums are my best suite.. its a shame really.. I'm part of a bunch of groups though.. i've looked at some and i see the same thing.. one person posted a question like MONTHS ago and NO ONE posted a reply still.. until i saw it and i replied..

Differences is what makes the world go 'round. I like it.. and yes its funny.... :)
