So Stories made up thousands of years ago by unknown authors are fine, but books based on more modern stories are pure fiction. That hypocrisy speaks for itself.

I have to admit that the Necronomicon book written by lovecraft is mostly a work of faction, though I have met people that have had some really good results working with it. So I could almost say it was inspired worked for the few. On another note I believe the Gods by general terms allow us the right to believe their existences is based on our worship them in truth, I have never seen this first hand. They do have power all their own, but they make choices just as anyone of would and they have far more awareness then us. So they wouldn't show us favor or attention, unless they had a personal desire or reason to do so. However If it is what you believe don't let me stand in your way, but I do disagree with you based on my personal experiences and my truth.

When my mom saw it, she freaked and made me return it. I never have gone back to read it. I instead got my fix of darkness from watching the Hellraiser movies.

Regardless of whether the character's from Lovecraft's world are real or not, I'm sure that enough people have devoted their energy to them that, even if they were only ideas at one time, enough time will have passed to where they're just as real as any of the other deities as thoughtforms. What was once nonexistant now exists because of the mere fact people 'want' to believe it exists.

I did ,however, have a best friend in highschool who used the sigls and the spells very successfully. To this day I'm not sure how or why it worked and even she admits to knowing full well of it's SciFi origins though she was still half hopeful of it being real.
