I was wondering if anyone knew of a sight or list of pagan professionals? Folks that you could do business with that belong to the Pagan Community. If there is no such sight or list, what do you think about making one?.... What would be the positive or negative aspects of such a venture?
It would be nice if there were one,but some would probably prefer not to come out of the closet,as it could be detramental to their employment.Sad but all to true.
Our community always encourages the use of pagan owned business, no matter what they are. Ufortunately, we dont have a list, but when we found out that the guy that runs the oil change and auto inspection station was pagan , we started driving to the other side of town to do business there.
Now that's what I had in mind. I'd love to find a pagan attorney to draw up our wills and make sure that what I want at the celebration of my death is done. I'll go out of my way to support a pagan business owner if they are reputable and can do what I want.
Witchvox (http://www.witchvox.com) is a great source, and has all kinds of categories, not just shops. From clergy to entertainment and alternative healing, as well as "mundane" jobs like midwifery and webdesign, you can find all there. The links are good as long as the people who have submitted their services keep them updated. Witchvox is not updated by the owners of the website, but each listing has to be updated by the person who has submitted it. Hence sometimes broken links.
To be honest, I can't see using a business just because it's owned by a Pagan, unless it's something like a metaphysical shop.
I see picking a shop because of the owner's religion as being a form of discrimination. You'd be upset to hear that someone chose NOT to use a business because it was owned by a pagan...so how this any better?
Darn good question. I know at the occult store there is a bulletin board, also the pagan meet ups sometimes have them listed. I see your idea and I think it is fabulous. There is a local book that comes out (ha ha) for the gay community of gay professionals. So I think there should be one for the pagan community too. Great Idea Gwendolynn!
