Paranormal States VS TAPS (Ghost Hunters)
I was curious to see what everyone here thinks of these two shows. I am guilty of watching both on a regular basis. However out of the two I love the guys and gals from TAPS.
Paranormal States is a like too religious for me. Praying to Jesus all the time plus I sometimes wonder if the cases are not fake. The last episode was of a girl possessed by a demon by the name of Six. To me it just looked fake. I may be wrong. But i got the impression that the subject was out for attention. I have never really seen these guys try to debunk. They use psychics and other specialists also but always the same ones.
With TAPS they will debunk everything they can Last night I watch an episode of GH and they were in St Augustine Fl. They investigated the Lighthouse there. Since I have been to this town I can attest to how haunted this city is. But the evidence they got was amazing. Plus they also debunked some of the events that had been happening to non-paranormal accounts. I have been to this lighthouse (8th tallest in the US) and felt spirits there and it is nice to see them getting proof. What i like about this show is that they will only seek hard evidence. They don't let psychics or other specialists cloud there judgement
Well this is my opinion. I would love to hear other opinions.

I don't like Paranormal State because of all the religious bullshit. I like Ghost Hunters but I'm not sure I like that new little gizmo they are using. I don't trust it.

They have done at least one other type, pagan. but basically its mainly christian.
It to me seems that way because of what they choose to show. Every show has its theme.

I think that the two shows are so different its tough to compare them. Ghost Hunters is all about the science, possible debunking and finding the absolute truth about whats happening for the client. Paranormal State is not so much about the science and debunking, but is more about helping the client feel safe in their homes, etc. again. So, sure the people on PS do a lot of house cleansing (or blessing, but those are two different things), but if it makes the people involved feel better, then so be it. They do get religious, and the majority of people are Christian, so its not surprising that the show usually has a Christian flair. I like Paranormal State more, I think because they true different things- like the Franks box, and generating energy to aid manifestations. Sure, its not scientific, but its still interesting to me. I like the science, and the debunking- I personally feel that its important to do that in an investigation, but I like that the people of Paranormal State try different things.

T.A.P.S. got my vote! Ditto to what you said about real investigation, I hate the hokey psychics and always claiming Demons are to blame for everything.

I would have to say I like Ghost hunters better. I have seen both and I agree that paranormal state is a bit to much on the church side of things. I also find it interesting how they only seem to consult with the warrens and no others in most cases. I also find it interesting how they say that they have a couple of pagan members of there investigation group but everything is always handled in a christian way.
I also agree with the statements of others that every place they go to is has some sort of evil element to them. I don't think that all spirits are evil and in many cases there are just as many good spirits as there are evil or dark, but they only seem to show the "evil locations" that they encounter.
Just my view.
I have not been able to watch either show for a while due to the need to cut exspenses and cable had to go. lol But hopefully soon I will be able to watch those shows again!!! I miss watching Ghost hunters. I always got a thrill out of watching them try to debunk sites and then having to admit they could not find a logical reason to explain something.
Not that I like them being wrong or anything, I just like the fact they are willing to openly state they can't find a scientific reason for what is occuring.

Roflmao. Well Sapphire, I was formulating in my head the pro's and con's of both.I was mentally making my case why T.A.P.S. kicks Paranormal States asses.The funny thing is you made every point I was thinking of.Same Psychic "Chip Coffee", who is obviously leans strongly toward the Puritanical. The fact they almost always sway the same on the show.Eilfie is the shows saving grace for me.They have had witches purify A couple of times but they usually seek out priests of some sort.While T.A.P.S. stay neutral most of the time.The Debunking issue,The quality of equipment and expertise of the operators.Obviously You see who I like the most.lol.

I watched a couple of the Paranormal State shows until a few freaky things happened at home and I decide not to watch that show anymore. I watched it for fun. I like Ghost Hunters but sometimes I feel that they discount too much. Have you ever watched Ghost Adventures?

Oh yea, I forgot about Ghost Adventures because it's so new. I have watched this show and am leaning towards liking it. The guys seem genuine about wanting to find the truth as to what is out there. They use alot of provoking (which has bit them in the ass a few times. lol) and they've gotten some pretty amazing results. Like TAPS they are more scientific and don't bring religion into the investigation. However, they can get pretty overdramatic when they see or hear something. Over all, I think they're pretty cool. Another interesting point: why is Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures an hour long program but they only give Paranormal State 30 mins? Hmmm....
