This has bothered me for many months, now. A friend once asked me about the Rule of Three, that whatever you give comes back to you times three. Well, his question was thus:
If I were to do act (1a) and I receive karma x 3 (act (3a)) for it, would the next action to follow act (3a) then be multiplied by 3? Does that mean that all actions become exponential and increase in their greatness? What if there aren't enough negative acts to balance the positive ones? How can the world experience something so great or terrible?
I didn't know how to answer this because by his reasoning, act (1a) turns into act (3a) which becomes act (9a), then act (27a), then act (81a), etc. Where is this seen in the world? What examples can be construed? Is it mathematically possible?
