So, I have a question if I might ask... I am hearing two different sides of this, and I wonder what is your opinion? Can someone accurately read their own cards or do people need readings from their friends to be really better or maybe a professional. I haven't studied the tarot for awhile, but I have been trying for a minute, I mostly focus on herbs right now, but I am simply curious as to what you think. I thank you and may you be blessed!
I ahve been reading cards for about 18 years and I can truley say to read for your self sucks I find it is easier to get someone you don't know too well to read for you friends can be bias stay away from so called professionals a lot of them are in it for the money and have no clue
I seldom do a full spread for myself as I (my Ego) am too entertwined with the situation to really be able to intuitively see a full spread. I find the I Ching is much more helpfull for me personally. It is a system more suited for self analysis in a way. I do not do readings for my wife either for similar reasons - ego entanglement, that is I do not trust myself to be truly unbiased in the reading.
I harbor no false delusions about my ability to be unbiased.
However, I am comfortable doing question and answer spreads for myself to gain insight into difficult situations or trends... even so, I must be interested in a real answer rather than just ego re-enforcement for that to work too
I see your point and what you mean. I think I might be able to be objective, but I am sometimes very disappointed in what I see. None of my friends that live close to me do tarot so it's hard toget anopinion at my house . I appreciate the people here telling me theirs . Bless you have a grrrreat day.
I use Oracle cards more than Tarot. I DO do my own readings, but more of a case of "What do I need to know?" as a general rule of sorts. I have a couple of friends who are so accurate when it comes to reading tarots, that they can set down a spread, read it, and then call me and ask me what's up...and then tell me what they saw. I can do the same for some people with my oracle cards (depending on whether or not I'm receiving messages for them, and/or have opened up energetically to them).
There are people who tell me I'm skewing my readings when I do them myself. Ah, well. There are many sides to a dice. I think that doing your own readings, and learning to do them as energetically openly as possible, will help you know yourself and your path more and more.
That is pretty cool, too. I hope everyone is having a good day. I am not trying to make this the discussion that never dies, but I have been ill for a minute. Hmmm now I'm back and I have been doing some work on this. Not sure what to say exactly but thanks to everybody who chipped in...!
Yes it works for me. Tarot is fun and I give readings to others and myself. It also helps to practice on yourself to get good at reading for other people accurately.
You can definitely read your own cards, but it's not always easy. It's hard to get rid of your personal bias while reading for yourself. Usually when there's a situation I want to know about, I already have an idea in my mind as to what the best and worst outcomes would be. It's hard not to see either of those in the cards, and I sometimes flip-flop between seeing both (maybe it's a Libra thing, who knows?). To avoid this, I usually try keeping things 'conversational' with the cards and getting the info out of them little by little. Or I just see if they give me a negative or positive card (this is relative mind you. what's positive to my deck might not be in yours. or your cards may not even really communicate like this. this, of course, goes with my personal belief and experience that different decks communicate in different ways). Sometimes I have to switch to a particular one of my other decks when reading for myself. It feels like cheating because it's so simplistic... but, while accurate and easy to read for my self-readings, it also won't give complex answers like my main deck will.
I think for different people it may be harder or easier to read for themselves. I might have some hurdles to overcome, but you or others may not. As for asking for readings from friends, well it all depends on how good at reading they are. I have friends who are great to ask for readings because they're accurate and insightful. Yet I know other people whom I'd never bother asking because it would be a serious waste of time.
Oh yeah, I used to read mine all the time. I have gotten very accurate readings for myself and for others. Tarot can be a very good tool for developing intuition and other faculties.
i do my own readings all the time and find them to be very accurate. I've heard that you're "not supposed to". But the person who gave me my first deck told me to practice on myself before I practiced on others, so that's how I learned.
I think that is what I would like to do as well, but I know I need the practice. This is what I want to do next after I do my research on herbcraft. This and one other thing. I thank you for your opinions. It's pretty helpful to know what real people think that really do practice this. Cool, have a good day from Jackie:)
You can definitely read for yourself. The trick is to look at it objectively and that can be hard because everyone wants to hear what they want to hear, ya know? So if its a question that you can handle the answer then go for it. However if you honestly dont think you can read the cards (or whatever your using) accurately then i reccomend having someone else read for you.
