PaganSpace.net The Social Network for the Occult Community

We have been under fire for over a month now being ultimately accused of running a website that caters to and condones perverts and pedophiles (insert eye roll here). Despite the ridiculous accusations, in all honesty, I do not have the time to police every minor’s page consistently which means I can no longer take on the responsibility of minors and also maintain this site’s daily activity and my family life as well. Nor can I or will I ask others to take the responsibility of this either.

It is with great sadness, that I will be removing the remaining minors from the website; most of the minors here have exhibited nothing less than wonderful, mature behavior so please know this is not a reflection of the teens. Yet, as a parent with children and as a responsible adult, I must say that since we cannot devote countless hours everyday to police the minors here then we must act responsibly & cease allowing them to be members. I will be closing Paganspace this evening and it will remain closed until tomorrow mid-morning so I can go through the site and remove the minors while also, checking out some site errors in the announcements.. On a positive note, I have researched and found some good teen oriented Pagan Social Networks that I will be sharing with the teen members prior to removing their profiles. I am not publicizing these networks because truthfully, I refuse to pave the way for zealot nut jobs to infest other people's sites.

On a final note, Paganspace.net is a site that is open to the public; which means if it’s not fitting for public viewing it does not need to be here. I have all over this site that we do not allow nude or explicit images etc; as a matter of fact to even add images to a photo album one must click the link that states that very statement. Yet, some still blatantly disregard our rules and do it anyway. We respect the members here but in return we ask that those who are here also respect this place, it's purpose and our rules. If people cannot, then they will be banned, as they always have.

So, even though, minors will no longer be here; the same rules that have always been in place will still apply.

Many thanks and many blessings to you all.

so punish those who are breaking the rules, don't punish innocent minors because some non-minors decided to break the rules.
We have had issues with some minors as well believe me, this decision was not easy for us nor was the subject taken lightly, and as I already stated I cannot monitor all the minors pages on this site daily & in my opinion if you are going to have minors on a site then you should have adequate time to police their pages; I just do not have that type of time on my hands; believe me the past 2 weeks alone I have spent over 60 hours going through minor's pages and assuring there were no problems etc.. On another note, If you would like to create a network for the teens than I would be happy to send them the information.
wait - so no other ning networks permit minors and adults on the same network?
Thank you so much for this Jordan! Big hugs to you and thank you for understanding and helping to explain.
There is so much I would like to share but in the interest of not adding fodder to a group of individuals who had their own agenda, and out of respect to the creator of this site, I won't. My daughter(a minor) is on this site as well and is surpervised by my husband, myself and other friends and family members...but I whole heartedly agree with StarrFire on this. My daughter understands what's going on and is really upset about it but she knows why it is to be this way.
There is no debate, do what you must.
It is sad, because they can learn so much from here- But as a parent and an adult, I completely understand the reasons behind it. I think it is wonderful that you are giving them alternatives.
Lord Dragonwulf, I like yer style....
YOU are such a knight! HA!! Starrfire did what she had to do. It is what it is........The circle keeps turning, aye?
This is quite sad. This can hardly be a family website with the goal of being family friendly if all of the family is not welcome. Makes even some of us adult youth feel a bit unwelcome.
We too were once young and looking for community and guidance.

A sad sad day.
I think you are doing the right thing to protect yourself, the site, and the minors on it, and it's especially considerate of you to provide them with alternatives. It seems the best you can do under the circumstances. Kudos!
It is also for the protection of the adults on the site... if something we say or do that is age appropriate if it were only adults and a minor is in a discussion unbeknown to us, that could also bring legal repercussions to one of us...

We do discuss topics that may not be suitable for minors in the eyes of some and there is no way for every person who wants to reply to a discussion to check every person's page who has replied to see how we should reply... and how would we keep a minor from replying to a discussion of adult nature...

There are too many variable involved...

Yes, it is sad that it had to come to this for we were all young once... and in a perfect world it should be ok for Elders and Young Ones to interact... but our world is not perfect... far from it...
