Site Owners Spamming Members w/ Invites via Messaging & a few other things

Hi All,

I wish this was one of my more pleasant postings but it is not. I am quite fed up w/ site owners joining this site and then mass messaging invites to the members, via private messages, using the forums and by using the comment feature. This is prohibited and just yesterday I banned a member for this activity and I will continue to ban people who do this.

I have said this word tired, and quite honestly I'm fed up because I shouldn't even have to address this because it's common courtesy not to join a site, friend request a bunch of people and then attempt to pull members based off the hard work of others. When I created this site I never went onto anyones website and asked people to join this one; I linked to this site via my own website WitchesWay and my personal profile pages.

The members here did not join this site so they can be barraged with invites to other sites; if you want people to join your site then do some actual work and bring people to it.. The advertisers on this site pay for their exposure and it's not fair to them when people come onto here and freeload off of what others do the right way (ie: paying for their advertising). Want members? Then advertise your site like the respectable site owners do!

If you receive invites in your personal message box on this site (or in your comments) then please forward me the information, because from here on out if this takes place I will ban the person without warning. I tried to be nice about this but apparently nice is not working so well, so now I'm going to be an ass. I've never had a problem with people placing their site info onto their page or their blog but all the other things stated have and continue to be unacceptable..

Another issue, the events calendar is for actual events, I have been steadily deleting supposed event postings because they are not events. Again, this is misuse of the site and an attempt to get free exposure on the front page. So, if you have an event, which is a gathering of people on a specific date; in a location then please post it but if it's not an event then do not place it into the events announcements or it will be deleted and you may find yourself deleted as well.

Last issue, this is PaganSpace not Sexspace; I'm sure we all enjoy sex but this is not the place for that type of discussion/exchange (and no I'm not in the mood to split hairs about what constitutes sexual exchange etc., use your brain and I'm sure you can figure it out). Now, I'm not a prude by any stretch but just yesterday I deleted a group that had been formed on this site relating to nothing more than sex. The network is very strict about this type of thing and I'm not risking loosing my site so people can discuss their sexual fantasies. So, if you want to form a group or talk about your detailed sex life or fantasies then more power to you; go create a website, or find one for that type of activity and get with it but I'm not going to have that going on here! To the gods, I really can't believe I'm even having to state this...

I know none of this pertains to most of you, so I apologize for unloading this; as this is not directed at you but it is very much directed at those who are involved in these continual issues.

People want to advertise, then pay the $7.00 a week for a banner ad... I mean for real, people spend more than that a day at McDonalds..

When I created my one site, I made it private, and invited only those whose personal emails I actually had. I did that, so that they would have a small place away from some of the bigger places, just to vent and not have it splattered all over the place. I would not think to do such a mass mailing as you speak of, because it is rude. I, instead, went through my friend's list, when helping another friend out with her site, and only invited from there. It was the first time I did that, but only used my friends from ning, not another site, such as yours, to mass email people I do not know. I find it rather rude, really. If I like as site, I might blog about it, or mention it in passing in an email, but I do not like spam, therefore, it is something I try to make sure I never do. The one time I sent out a mass email, it was because I was traveling and was able to meet up with some people, and offered them a chance to meet. I, personally feel, that courtesy needs to be taken, especially in regards to inviting members to another site. Rules should be adhered to, and thought should be used, not just a bang, hit a button sort of thing. It is unfair to the site owner whose work you have just mistreated. People like you, who pour so much into a site, and pay for it, deserve the respect and understanding, that your advertisers help pay for a wonderful service for us all to use. Disrespecting that is just wrong.
Thank you for letting us know. And thank you for your hard work, and thank you to the advertisers who help with the upkeep of the site. I know I, personally, have checked out each and everyone of their sites, and love what I find.

Also she owns this joint, and is the one that PAYS the bills on this place for YOU to come here and hang out for FREE... 2)its not about rights. I'm not telling her to do something. I am simply saying that if she wants us to follow a rule then she has to actually tell us what the rule is. most of us here dont have telepathy.
3)she wrote this on 10/5/09. before that this rule about sexual exchange had never been voiced any where that I could locate it.
If someone does something and it is against a rule that hadnt been around until after they did it then they did not violate the rule because the rule hadnt been around when they commited the action.
Starrfire voiced the rule TODAY. I said I checked PREVIOUSLY. as in BEFORE TODAY. If I checked something previous to today and she voiced the rule today then obviously my previous check could not have found something that was first voiced today.
