I have raise both of my boys with my wiccan and pagan values. But things have changed quite a bit since we have moved to texas, from michigan. Here we are surrounded by christian values with un-christian like behavior. In michigan my religion was much over looked and now I feel it is scrutinized daily. I feel a little torn to teach my kids anymore than they already know about wicca because of all of the grief they are given in general. I'm not used to the difference in acceptance.

Now my youngest son has just asked me to teach him about 'mommy being a witch' and I'm a little at a loss of where to start. With him, it is difficult for me to teach him but he catches on very quickly. He is 6 now and has all of the signs of aspers disorder, a.d.d, and being an indigo child.

He is very special and I want to teach him the best way I know how. Now I think I am the one who needs the guidance.

You are not terribly far from the Dallas/Ft.worth area - and I believe there is a group here on Pagan Space from there that may help, as could the Pagan Parenting group. Small town attitudes can be a real challenge - in any state! (and even in big cities!)
I'm afraid your boys will no be the only ones you will need to teach!
Best wishes for you and your beautiful boys.

You would be surprised how quickly a child with aspergers catches on to things . I have had to learn Spanish because he has picked up on how to speak it from T.V. and interactive games and DVDs . My wife can not understand any Spanish and until last year I only knew enough to interact in a kitchen and not screw up a recipe .

The same has gone for my sons interest in magick . I have had to keep it very , very limited . He has been doing some crystal work on his own . I have kept m teaching to a very minimal and only guided him on what he has done on his own .

You might want to look into Sensory Integration Disorder/Sensory Processing Disorder. My son was wrongfully labeled with what you mentioned, (besides indigo, he is), and even more. I sure wish I'd known about SID/SPD when he was 6!!!
We are surrounded by christan values with un-christian like behavior. It is hard. I feel I have to hide everything about my spirituality to avoid my kids losing their friends and worse. I feel for you!

I have never heard of SID/SPD, where can I find out more information about it?

my son has aspergers also. He takes everything so literally..so I have to be careful what I say and do around him. I was thinking about being part of a coven not too long ago and he went to the meetings with me. He asked if we were doing witchcraft I said yes but it's just like praying. So when I am at my altar or doing a ritual and he sees me or he is home he knows I am just praying to my god and goddess.

He seemed pretty satisfied with that, although he doesn't like it when I burn inscense. lol

Stand up for what you believe. Don't let small town christian fundamentalist get you doubting your faith.
Be a witch and be proud.
Brightest Blessings to you and your family.
