I was wondering if it were possible to prepare and do the entire ritual for a spell and then store the energy someplace (without casting the spell) so as to be able to cast the spell at will when the need arises.

Also if anyone has done this can they give some examples

Edit:
Now that this discussion has gotten off the ground I would like to add another question to the pot.

On the topic of storing spells would a stored spell be less powerful then a spell cast immediately?

To clarify: what this thought had originally come from is from much of the fiction that I read in which a magician or witch or what-have-you would prep an attack spell or a shielding spell, holding the energy in limbo, so to speak, and then using the spell when the time came that it was needed.

While realizing that that example is fiction I recently came across a discussion on this site in which the witch would prep a spell and bring it up to the point where one would normally cast it, only then diverting the built up energy not into the spell but sending it into the earth and ending the process. While they were just using such methods for practice I had wondered if it were possible to do all that but, instead of throwing away the energies into the earth, sending those same energies into a "button" if, you will, that can later be pressed to release the spell.

Now while i do not know or at the moment can not think of why someone would want to do such a thing, seeing as how there is none of that fictional magikal warfare with fireballs and the like. But if someone did find a use for such a thing, perhaps for the calming of a child or something else that needed to be dealt with quickly and with the good solid strength of a ritual, like the banishing of a violent spirit or something, would it be possible?

Ending notes:
Thank you all for coming and aiding in my personal spiritual growth. I do hope that some of you who came were also able to take something away from it. However, this discussion is now closed due to the fact that anything more that would be said would just start going in circles and that doesn't help anyone.

Brightest Blessings,
Soki~

I haven't done it but I think it could be done.
Candle magick, think about it. I've never done it, however in candle magick you charge the candle do you not? The magick is then released when you burn the candle. Imo it would work. Charge the candle and burn it when you need it. Anyone else agree?

I agree.
I do candle magick actually. The way that I practice is that, I do charge the candle, I burn the candle on a specific day to give it a bit more oomph. Usually, a person will burn the candle completely down for a certain spell and then bury the wax. I have also done this, but I don't bury the wax.

Yes maam, you are absolutely correct. However I do bury the candle's remains. Usually under an oak tree along with an offering. How long do you think a candle can hold the energy though? I've never stored my power like that.
i think this would just be my prep stage. i spend alot of time puring over the logistics before iu cast any spell.
I answered you in the other post. Every Yuletide I have my ritual fire it is to thank the Gods and Goddess for all the things that I have been blessed with. I also burn the calendar from that year. Allowing all the positive days to burn as well as the ones that were not so good.I never say that there were negitive ones, just ones that could have been better. By burning all together they will blend and meld. I always remove the least burnt log from the fire in the Morning. Place it in my log bin which is next to my fireplace{Hearth} It is the place of honor. I remind that Log all year it is to be first in my Yule ritual and should consider that it has gotten to see all I have been blessed with through the year. When it is time to be burned it knows why I am thankful also. I think this is a storing of enegry, does it sound like that to you. By the way thank you for this discussion,Soki. BB&MM LR
First of all thank you for reposting here. Secondly, while it's not exactly what I am asking about it still has some of the same properties in that energy is stored to be used in a spell and then released in that spell or ritual.
Yes, if you are storing the energy in say a witches bottle, candle, etc. Bottom line, as long as you're storing it in an object, potion or brew. Any other ideas of how to do this? Jump in folks.

Johanna
See,I view the witches bottle,as protective, active energy not stored energy. It is there as a form of protection, always active, always protecting and warding off. I think of "stored" and i think more dormant.,not used energy.
Im seeing a lot of things that make me a little nervous, in light of how I was taught.

Power is not "stored" in what's left of a burning candle; power is stored in a candle as it is being made or charged/dressed, and that is used during its burning to acheive the desired result. What's left is just wax.

However, there are practices like the Mother Candle; it is lit to represent the Goddess, and then only burned while "in her presence", slowly becoming a tool like any other, only in this instance it does become charged with Her energy and can be used as such; that's not a regular candleburning though, its a single built candle (meaning new pillar candles are grafted onto the old one as it burns) with a purpose.

A Witch's Bottle (by that name) is an old traditional protection spell; urine, blood, nails/broken glass/poisonous herbs all in a bottle, sealed, and then buried on your property or sealed up in a wall; its a way of sending back all negativity sent your way. A Storage bottle is an altogether different concept... I dont see why you couldnt bottle up energy, especially since I know just how easy it is to tie it. (I also personally have used bottles, but for specific things)

Potions/brews are usually the end result OF a magickal working, not necessarily a storage vehicle; the word for an herbal solution that's made to store energies is "condenser"; ie I can make a fluid condenser when I have fresh lavender and keep its power fresher than, say, letting the herb dry and crumbling old dead lavender into a working. either way will get you results, but you'll get more out of taking in between steps to refin your ingredients and work with them more.
LOL I'll have to remember that XD
But Alan... There is no spoon.... ;-)
