The find was acknowledged as treasure & will become the queen's property to keep the artifacts from leaving the country. And although they can't keep the items they've found, the man who discovered the loot & the man who owns the property will split the treasure's value once it has been established. At least, that is my impression after reading the picture descriptions in the second link.
Best regards
thats exactly how it works.
There was a brooch found in the fields not 5 miles from my mums house in Cheshire.
The guy who owned the land has legal right over the item found. But as he gave permission for the 'treasure hunter' to be on his land, he split the value when the item was sold.
When it went to auction, it made £1.3 million.
Happy farmer
Happy hunter
oh this answers my question on another porst. That really sucks that the queen get the treasure what did she do for it? Same here in the states if you find anything of significance the state gets it.
