WE were disussing this yesterday.....if it would haven even been possible for a World wide flood to have happened? Would 40 days and 40 nights even have been enough time to cover the highest mountain on Earth, for example? Were there enough materials to build a boat that size? HOW did all those animals get there?? And other thoughts.....NOT only Christians, but other cultures talk about ther flood......THOUGHTS? real or a parrable? example? What?

Permalink Reply by Aurelia Pontia on February 25, 2012 at 2:33pm Thank you for the links.
The first one there is one line that says the lake picks up minerals from the surrounding soil that makes the lake water taste vaguely salty'. I couldn't read the rest, it only gave me one page.
The second link also indicates that any salt the lake has comes from the surrounding soil, not the waters.
Technically, brackish water contains between 0.5 and 30 grams of salt per litre—more often expressed as 0.5 to 30 parts per thousand (ppt or ‰).
Read this link. The measurements of salinity in just one arm of the Lake are barely in the lowest measurement of brackish and the report says the level of saline drops as you go out into the lake proper.

Again, the lake is not brackish. Not even close.

It was found in the article "Ancient Mars Water Existed Underground"
Permalink Reply by Midnight Hawk on July 2, 2012 at 10:24pm I don't dismiss the notion of mass floods occurring, however, the Bible is collection of stories, of myths-just as the ones in ancient Greece, Rome, etc.

Permalink Reply by Midnight Hawk on July 3, 2012 at 4:56pm There is one from Egyptian mythology concerning the God Ra. I'm not familiar with the entire story but from what I do understand, Ra was afraid he was going to be overthrown so he sent Hathor to punish the people, but their blood flowed into the Nile and the Ocean, ultimately causing a flood. Ra had slaves make a lake of beer dyed to red to look like blood. Hathor became intoxicated and that prevented her from destroying humanity entirely. In the end the survivors of the bloodbath began humanity from anew.

Permalink Reply by AriTheGoddessOfAwesome on July 3, 2012 at 11:31am I agree that the "world" was much smaller than people thought back in the day and there could have just been a localized flood that lasted a while.
Permalink Reply by Celticlass...FAERIE QUEEN on July 3, 2012 at 1:13pm Could be.the "WORLD" the Bible mentions deluged by the flood, could have been their known world......
Permalink Reply by Pat Miller on July 3, 2012 at 1:27pm They could only write about what they knew about. But, there is nothing to say it wasn't bigger than that. Floods must have been horrible for people then...can you imagine? Felt like the end of the world even if it wasn't. Think about all of those western fires and imagine not knowing anything about the rest of the world.
