FORSOOTH !!

I thought the Knights code was just...can only move in move in an L motion haha
I think it IS code to have one's OWN code too.........and "TRY" to live by it,being imperfect,we wont always,no matter what.

Are we supposed to offer our thoughts on this, or what?  Public service announcement?

Well, regardless, I take issue with several of the points.  The code could use a hell of an update and revision, imo.

I know, right? I'm rather sitting here going "Wtf" myself.

I agree with all those except for 1,2, and 8. We should fear no gods, and as far as liege lords are concerned, there are none today, and as far as obeying those placed in authority, well what if said authority figures are corrupt, or wrong in some way, shape or form? Obeying just for the sake of obedience is mindless and counterproductive. By all means, live your life with honor, protect the weak, respect others, for these are good tenets to live by.

The KNIGHTS CODE.a fine blueprint, indeed and i see it as such myself, however,as each knight has the variables in their life and every situation,I see the rules as such and also with time things change too in some instances.....To see and be around a KNIGHT in today's realm is a fine thing. i know several and my David is indeed a fine example,as i've see him deal with gallantry caring for my 90 year olde MOM to helping a sick child and literally giving the shirt of his back to someone who needed it.I often wonder when men cant grasp this concept, mayhaps it simply is because they cant. I see being a Knight as a person that puts others needs in front of theirs at times too.
As today,a blueprint and ALWAYS depends on the individual knight. i DOUBT it was ever "absolute" either.no man is that perfect.,not even the real good ones....LOL

This code sounds either outdated or ahead of its time.. we are not a feudal society...YET  that is.. but the way the world is going who knows..

Well! Now I understand why I have never been knighted!
......it is NEVER too late........SIR!

Not picking you apart here mate, just gonna post what comes to my mind.

The Knight's Code:

1. To fear God and maintain His Church

To do what your told do to by the Pope and the Catholic heirarchy thereforth.

2. To serve the liege lord in valour and faith

To listen to whoever the Pope decided was Sheriff, without question.

3. To protect the weak and defenceless

Obviously this was a flop, because we're on Paganspace finally coming out of the wood work. How about that Women and Children genocide.

4. To give succour to widows and orphans

That means givin' a  little lovin and the child a toy. Common now.

5. To refrain from the wanton giving of offence

In modern english this sentence makes no sense to me, malicious giving of offence? Okay then.

6. To live by honour and for glory

Didn't know honour was a person and I equate glory and pride as the same.

7. To despise pecuniary reward

Selflessness is far and few in between.

8. To fight for the welfare of all

See no. 3, this obviously didn't work either.

8. To obey those placed in authority

This is the bloody same as one and two!

9. To guard the honour of fellow Knights

Theres more stupidity in numbers, true.

10. To eschew unfairness, meaness and deceit

That makes this whole code, null eh?

 11. To keep faith

This is the ONLY one that makes a little sense.

12. At all times to speak the truth

Never happens in a bar fight.

13. To persevere to the end in any enterprise begun

Well there's lots of 'em and the Bible gets sold on bookshelves too.

14. To respect the honour of women

..... This is the third one, what's missing here is "submissive".

15. Never refuse a challenge from an equal

A duel to the death.. cause you have a disagreement? Okay.

16. Never turn your back upon a foe

If common sense could meet common sense they'd gossip about common sense.
