I bet this has been discussed before but I want to put out my view so please forgive me this is said with all due respect.
I was told the other day that the connotation of the word Witch is a disgrace to the Pagan/Wiccan community and that with its negative connotation it should never be used to associate our community.
I am quite proud to be called a witch and my reason is because when I was little my mother would call me her little witch used in banter and through that I always saw myself as a witch and although I know my mother would prefer it that I would have taken it as a joke rather than an endearment it became more of a compliment to me than anything else and the fact that people misunderstand the mere word shows their ignorance.
The reason why I think this is because I mean what else did people call those that practiced magic it can't be all so harmful can it? Please comment but please don't be rude to one another I don't want ya'll getting angry its just a thought that I had. *hugz to all*
And I so agree with you, isent it funny how man must fit in by placeing a lable upon them selfs? I think in reality we all ware many caps , so to say we are one or the other is indeed quite hard. its kinda like a shiftchangeing from one hat or personality to another lol. I wonder what would happen if we mix up the hats ? either way Im just me and YOU are just you and its good to be here amoung all of you. no lables , no defineing, just people opended minded , researching, learning , and pondering different aspects, to me this is what its all about, do i half to be a witch to be here? do I haft to be pagan to be here ? why can I just be human ? with a open mind? Thanks Fantum
I am very proud to be called 'Witch'...it is who I am. I may be a Pagan, a solitary, an eclectic, a mother, a wife, an ex-wife, a grandmother, a woman and sometimes a 'womyn', a tarot reader, a dreamer, a procrastinator, every so often a 'Mam', a free spirit, a collector, a shopper, a liberal, once in a while even a Bitch...but my favorite title is still 'Witch'.
Im proud to say that i'm a witch. I dont think it is a negative thing at all... its kinda like the word "Heathen"... it isnt a negative word at all, it just means a person of the hearth as i am aware...
Bottom line, i LOVE being a witch, and also, pagans can call themselves whatever the f#$k they want, it doesnt concern anyone else but them. People need to stop worrying about what other people believe and call themselves... as long as you know in your heart what you are, no one else in the world can take it away from you =D
GO WITCHY POOS!

I am a witch and if someone doesn't like it, well, then they have the right to walk away from me. It won't hurt my feelings nor will it create in me regret, sorrow or anger. I am what I am, who I was born to be and will be until the day I pass.
There will always be someone out there who wants to create a new battle in their imaginary war. Blessings of the Day ~!
*Hugz to all* I've read all of your comments and I love what all of you wrote. I am so proud of you all because of you, you give me hope *hugz* thank you all of you and I wish blessings on each of you that replied. Thank you so much I wish I had the words to convey to you all how your comments made me feel. I loved the light-heartedness and the fact that it came from all of your hearts. All of your words were beautiful and I just want to say thank you. The person that had made this comment to me and began me onto this discussion is in fact a Pagan, and has a tendency to put down others in this path. I know this isn't right but what can one do. But thank you again all of you, I've always loved the word Witch and am proud to be called one as well. *hugz* BB to all of you and thank you so much *Hugz*
