PaganSpace.net The Social Network for the Occult Community

Every year I start what is called the Yule Tree. It's a network of people who send each other Yule cards in the mail.

It's quite simple really, if you'd like to get a card or send a card - you post your name here. People can contact you privately for your mailing address.

Be warned, I often drop little gifties inside the card.

I did this last year, and I got over 200 cards in the mail. For each one you receive, you send one back.

I am a tree, but also part of the forest.

2009 Update:
If you want to participate in the Secret Santa - send me your name. I'm saving them on a word doc, that I'll cut up and send out. Everyone who participates will be given a name, it will be sent out in the mail. Once you have your name, you take the responsibility for sending a small gift to that person, and you will-in-turn receive a small gift from your own Secret Santa.

I start sending Yule cards on 12/1/09.
The secret santa names will be sent out in your Yule card, which will be mailed 12/1/09.

**I extended the Secret Santa to 12/1 to give people more time for participation.

**please include your full legal name and mailing address to participate. (private email)

** Remember, the more people you share your mailing addy with, the more people you will exchange greeting cards with. I'm maintaining a list of my own Yule Cards to send, as well as keeping track of the Secret Santa. It is up to YOU, to send your address to other participants.

I hope this message doesn't come across offensive in any way

Not at all.

I often make my own cards, from scrap paper - so recycling is a conscious way to spread holiday cheer without adding insult to injury.

It's not really required that people participate, it's purely voluntary. If you feel it goes against your personal beliefs - email is just as good. Though, I don't know how using technology really saves the planet or preserves trees for that matter.

I guess it all depends 'how' you receive the Internet. What fuels/materials were used to manufacturer your computer, etc.

I hear ya, I do too. I hate to open my mailbox and find that everything in it - is 'junk mail'. It goes right in the recycling bin.

My thoughts on the Internet is that there are several organizations that make the internet possible, many of which push out tons of paper. Each time we use it, we are supporting these organizations that use tons of paper each year - that's what I was driving at.

I use 'Free Cycle' for the big stuff. I donated a computer to a family, they came and scooped it up - it keeps 'junk' out of landfills.
