were harry potter spells really used by wizards and witches?

Harry Potter is filled with references to real life magical and occult workings. It's just not Wiccan so most people don't recognize it. I read an article on Witchvox were someone claimed it had nothing in it that was related to real life witchcraft and wizardry. I mean the first book references Nicolas Flamel and the philosopher's stone, I thought it would be more common knowledge among witches to know those references.

Flamel was an Alchemist, not a wizard. The Harry Potter shit is just made up qausi-Latin.

Where did the origins of spell's come from in the first place, for there is no evidence that they are real. For all spell's are made up by the the original spell caster that wrote them. Past down through centuries until people of the craft believe them as actual spell's, so the spell's used in the film Harry Potter could end up being real after couple of centuries have past by. I mean who's to know what's real and what's not real...!!

J. K. Rowling did make references to occult personages and things such as the philosophers stone.

The spells however are her own made to sound Latin from what I can tell.

Anapneo for instance. My take is from word Apnea restricted breathing.The spell was used to stop a character from chocking.Look at the spells and see what you come up with yourself.

yeah spells are made up I guess what I was thinking about was the fantasy element in the movies... like flying around on broomsticks... I didn't want the OP to think that there was a spell for that... But if one of you know diff... then let us know! lol

Well now, let us look at the source of said spells. Ms. Rowling I presume wrote the series completely on her own steam.

So, unless she happens to be a spell caster, or collaborated with some one who is, then I would say no, the Harry Potter spells were not used by witches and wizards.

I suppose an argument about intention and manifestation could be made, but without some one coming forth and actually making the claim that they were able to invoke the casting based upon knowledge gleaned from the franchise, then it's still no.

YES they are completely real, but if you want to truly powerful spells and how to make the most powerful potions refer to Skyrim.
