In my study of history I have developed a few beefs that transcend time. That is to say, if given an opportunity to travel in time I would try to oppose them, in order to reduce the vest effect of their actions. Does anyone else think like this?

My time beefs include, but are not limited to:
Charlamagne- through bloody conquest all but destroyed european folk religion and culture
Pope Urban- architect of the crusades, whose crop we are now reaping in the era of terror
St. Patrick- Converted the last bastion of celtic culture. Due to Paddy's non-violent approach I would also answer with non-violence.
Christopher Columbus- The American Genocide, nuff said.
Adolph Hitler- for genocide and fascism. And on top of this, wrapping his hateful madness in pagan symbols.

The father of the A-bomb who is J. Robert Oppenheimer, he led the Manhattan Project in the United States, which produced the first ever nuclear weapon. Then of course there is the Bush family.

I never thought of that, That's an interesting bit of trivia. But to stay on topic, there is a Ray Bradbury book about the time travel "A delicate SOund of THunder". We can change nothing without drastically affecting our world. If you have time you could check it out. If you like sci- fi like me, it's very cool.

Interesting sort of hypothetical question, but I guess a question that I would have is that if any person throughout history that has committed a perceived 'evil' act was killed, would it have really made any real impact or would it simply be the case of someone else doing what they would have done; although it is fair to state that I am no peace activist, the idea within itself doesn't really have much meaning, I think about it and look at some of the people mentioned and wonder to myself, is killing someone that kills any better then what these people have done?

Also most of the people throughout history that have harmed people in a large scale sort of manner have had the backings of large groups or even nations, I suppose that there is some level of mass ignorance, but it has pretty much always been the people (In general) that allow these things to happen.

has anyone ever thought that the world might be a worse place than it is now if these people hadn't been around and the level of technology we have might not be as advanced as well.

Maybe instead of killing off the bad guys you would get to them as babies and raise them differently. I have wondered if that would have made a difference in how they lived. The whole nature versus nurture theory. Or what if you could go astrally back in time and change things. Hmmmmm.... my mind is on overdrive today I guess.

Going back in time can be fun, but also tricky. When you change things you have to be careful of creating a paradox. Well now I am off for a holiday weekend.
