well i believe that magick is the faculty of wonderful virtue in things. it is the inner virtue of natural things that creats wonderful effect.

i have read many occult book of the old. there it is shown how mixture of natural things creats wonderful effect. for example:the power of loadstone to attract things to it, virgin's hair when put in dung turns into serpent, the lamp which is made of snake skin renders shadow of snakes in the wall etc.

all these wonderful effect is possible because of inner virtue of natural things. this inner virtue of natural things is called magick by the old and by me alike.

what do you think?

what

can you give any example?

magick is something Crowely came up with.

Now magic, is science that science hasn't discovered yet.

don't you think that natural herbs and stones have powers which science cannot exlpain ? those unexplained power of natural herbs and stones is called magick.

And the manipulation of those powers to get what we want. Definitely magic!
There are energies around us that can be manipulated. That manipulation to achieve a desired effect is how I've seen it described, and I can't disagree with that. Lots of good definitions. I think that gazing at a full moon, feeling the calm, the relaxation and the energy, that too is magic IMO. magic around us all the time.

That is just what I said in my post.

Magick is "the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will."

I would have to go into detail about the Thelemic concept of "Will".But let's just say it's much more complicated than one would think.I'm heading to breakfast with the Fam.Perhaps I'll expound on this more when I return....perhaps I won't.

What you're mentioning in the above is magic for sure, based on the laws of contagion and similarity but that's different than Magick IMO.

actually in the ancient text we find that magicians, socerors and wizards did wonderful things like circe turned odesius's men into animals by using a potion, phero's sorcerors cause storm in the ocean etc. in the story of asterix, we find the priest etasetamix bring superhuman power to obelix by using a potion. all these examples might be true to some extent. otherwise why people will remember them?

besides there are another kind of magick which is called spirit magic. the greater and lesser key of solomon, the book of old spirit by Dr.john dee, the arbatel of magic: all these grimoirs are full of instruction as to how to contact with the spirit both good and bad and then cause miracle with their help.

remember what moses did on exodus. he parted of the water of the red sea. how he did that? an ordinary man cannot do it. but if we bring spirits in, we got some meaning. only spirits have that supernatural power to divide the water of the sea. it is not mozes's power. it is the power of the spirit.

and sticks turned into snake. that stick must be some special stick and not ordinary stick. it is also i think the job of a spirit.

these examples show that spirit magic really cause supernatural things: miracles.

But these are myths and prone to metaphor, surely you can't believe them as literal?

two all beef patties ,a shitload of mayo , extra pickels , onions , cheese and a dash of catsup ... an ice cold bud light , and an extra large order of fries !  and tabasco sauce !

Magic is all around us Heliodramus...all around us. See how you've manipulated me into venturing down the street to McD's? Magic! I just want the fries...not the big mac...and maybe a carmel sundae from BK...which is 2 doors away. Damn sounds good.
