i was doing some looking into of plants, their properties, meanings, and so on, untill i stumbled across a "black rose". i dont know why, but i was instantly drawn to it, the look and color, i cant get it out of my head. its said that it has something to do with great magical purpose, but can find anything. everyone knows that giving flowers is a common gesture, a white for purity or red for love, but black has always been asociated with death, destruction and mortality. but i dont know why, but i just cant stop thinking about it, what it means, why this is so fasanating to me, and the image wont leave my head. does anyone know ANYTHING, cause its driving me insane!!! can someone help me out?

A black rose can also mean the beginning of new things or a major change or upheaval. The black rose also means the death of old habits and order. It can inspire confidence and enthusiasm by signaling the birth of a new era of hope and joy.

It can be a symbol of mutiny and strength, courage and resistance.

Just some more odd things I know... and love.. Blessings of the Night ~!

the Black Rose is a powerful spiritual symbol, it's not a real plant at all (i guess they could breed or engineer one, but it isn't a naturally occurring thing).

i believe it is the flower of death. it is a rose because death is a gift (for those who can accept it as such; which isn't all by any means), but black because it is a mystery to us while we remain in life (black absorbs all colors, no light/knowledge radiates out so it is the color of mystery). i've seen it in other contexts as well though and i think it may also be used to represent Mystery and not Death.

For one it is the name of a vampiric society called exactly that, be that what it may. Also it is a very, very rare flower. I had my bout with the whole deal back in my childhood and could not find a real non-dyed black rose any where. I know that they do have them, but you will more than likely not see one growing because most are faux. Good luck.

similar to the blue rose in that manner... my grandfather used to grow them (blue ones), though a stubborn (ex florist) coworker of mine insists its impossible to grow one. lol

i have been an avid rose grower for over 30 years now i have a burgandy grandafloiler that make blooms bigger than your hand and is of the most beautiful dark red youve ever seen i have had over 200 different varieties over the years and can remeber back in the early 90's a catalog offering a black rose after i bought 2 of them and tried to grow them i reralized they were different from the rest of the rose family as the nutrient requirements werent the same i say that to say if we could get them then you should still be able to now. try looking at some of the dealers in holland to find one

by the way the only 3 colors i havent had luck with growing are black purple and blue

did you sour the soil when trying to grow the blue?

Black is the colour of death, chaos and negative, so I would never want to know more of the Black Rose.

agreed. it's just a symbol. even the thing it symbolizes shouldn't terrify you - it's inevitable and it's not a bad thing, actually. i'm not in a hurry, but i kinda look forward to the time when i eventually walk that path. i think it will be like a second birth, but being born into an even larger world in more ways than most people imagine. be at peace - there's much more to existence than what we now call life.

I always saw black as protective, banishes negativity

My daughter was always talking about black roses... they were her favorite and yes, none have been developed yet, as I know. I asked her once why she was so enamored of the black rose and her answer to me was that black was associated with the crone and therefore wisdom.. That was her explanation.
