I liked ' The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe'  as well-actually after having the first two books in the series read out to my class when I was ten, it was the witch I liked best!

Also I love the books by Alan Garner 'The Wierdstone of Brisingamen' and 'The Moon of Gomrath'. The Morrigan is in these stories as a villain, she is disguised as an elderly lady living in a village. In one scene a dwarf cuts off her head and she keeps putting it back on again.

The walking man, in Stephen King's novel "The Stand".

Randall Flagg.

I know this person, even though they never existed beyond the pages of King's novel. I know this person so very very well.

Glinda the Good Witch of the South from the "Oz" book series.  I also like the Good Witch of the North, but sadly she's limited to two appearances in L. Frank Baum's work, and I don't care for how she was represented in Ruth Plumly Thompson's work.

Tom Bombadil from Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings".

Armand of Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles".

Walker Boh of Terry Brooks' "Heritage of Shannara".

My favorite character of all time is Merlin I love story about him :)

It's a great post, you should do more.

Boudica from the Raven of Avalon, I know that historically she wasn't magical but in the book she was. I love how brave and strong she was in the face of great danger.

and of course

Morgaine from Vivianne from Mist of Avalon. The book is quite amazing and both women were great. Tv movie is awesome too.

You know what I like about that movie (except for Anjelica Houston as one of the actual Silver Screen Goddesses)? The way they processed textiles for the costumes, complete with dying and combining crocheted/woven/knitted/felted fabrics. The book itself as a whole, makes my mouth foam unfortunately.

I know everything about the movie was beautiful. What bothers me about the book is the pacing. It's grating.I admit I usually enjoy the books over the movies, but for this one with the actors in it and the pacing it is superior. When Vivianne dies in the  movie..the way they did it makes me cry :( The book felt like it had to give a blow by blow of EVERYTHING.

I would rather read some of the other books in the Avalon series such as Priestess of Avalon and Raven of Avalon.

I will admit and I will probably get someone bitching about it is how its become ingrained in the pagan community as if it was "real". I think people forget that its a piece of pure fiction and that really bothers me as well

Maybe I do not like Zimmer-Bradley...I really don't know why I want to throw her books out of the window when trying to read them.

I think that her take on the Trojan War was better than Mists Of Avalon, but I really have to admit that Ken Follett or Stephen Grundy is about the most historic novel style literature I manage to read without going blind from eyerolling at the romantics of it all.

I think so too.  I'm not a big fan of Zimmer-Bradley.  I love her Firebrand book, the one on the Trojan war, but Mists of Avalon was tedious.  I liked the TV movie version, it was much better than the book, as far as entertainment value, but the TV movie's ending was eye rolling.

Firebrand was a good book.  While I liked the Mists of Avalon, it took me months to read it.  Which is weird because I can sit down and read all three Lord of the Rings books in a week or two.

The Mist of Avalon is my fav book.
