Bree Newsome & James Tyson Released

Newsome and others calling themselves "concerned citizens" released a statement explaining, “Deciding to do what the SC Legislature has thus far neglected to do, the group took down the symbol of white supremacy that inspired the massacre, continued to fly at full mast in defiance of South Carolina’s grief, and flew in defiance of everyone working to actualize a more equitable Carolinian future."

Get rid of all specialty flags on government buildings, even state flags that have divisive symbolism on them. The Confed flag went up in SC in the 1960s and was moved from atop the statehouse in 2000 to the pole on the house grounds now. Remove it and let the South in particular adapt to only the USA flag, not some token of the confederacy or losing the civil war to the Union north.

I'd like to see gov buildings not fly the Rainbow flag either.  The larger goal was for USA LGBT Americans was/is to become part of the social and consumer corporate mainstream rather than a fringe minority once civil liberties were gained.

Follow the example of removing religious icons and 10 commandments plaques from USA state courthouses and gov buildings to not favor any one religion.

That's the problem, plenty of states have symbols that *could* fall under that category.  Who decides ultimately?

This is Virginia's State Flag, putting 'Tyranny' underfoot.

Sounds legit.

"Get rid of all specialty flags on government buildings"

The confederate flag isn't just a specialty flag. It is a flag of treason.

The Confederate flag isn’t just offensive. It’s treasonous.

"Although the Confederates were not tried and convicted of that crime, treason certainly describes their behavior. The Constitution says that “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them.” That is exactly what the Confederates did. They were U.S. citizens who took up arms against their government. These were individuals who killed American soldiers. They sought to destroy the United States, as it stood, through violence."

Wasn't the Revolutionary War realistically an act of Treason? Just sayin.

yup. But we won.  :)

How is it treasonous, aren't Confederate Soldiers recognized as American Soldiers? Were any Southern States convicted of treason? Nope.

Doesn't matter if they Lost ;)

"aren't Confederate Soldiers recognized as American Soldiers?"

So when the South Rises again are you going to treat them as American Soldiers and support their cause?

If I still live in the South and Big Brother comes knocking with tanks and shit, you bet your ass I will. I'll be among the Militia with Fully Automatic Weapons at my disposal.  I mean, seriously?  I don't even think you know what you're arguing against.  The Union were the Traitors if you ask me. This is what set things in motion for how our government behaves today.  Turning the Internet into a 'UTILITY' and passing TPP in the night. Just sayin'

I guess according to his rationale it's perfectly ok to be a "traitor" as long as you win... *facepalm*
